[To Sripad Damodar Prabhu, São Paulo:] You are preaching very nicely, you are a very good preacher. Your health condition is not good, but you are still preaching—I appreciate your service, you do so much service in the temple, and you preach, it is very good. You always have my support.

[To the two devotees taking initiation:] You are very fortunate souls—you are going to become members of our family, members of Krishna's family. It is a very big family. You used to live before in the family of maya, illusory environment, but now you are joining the family of Krishna.

Actually, when we get enrolled into a school, college, or university, it does not mean that we have finished that school or university—you cannot finish a school without studying, without passing exams, without doing the graduate or post-graduate exams. In this spiritual life also, you are only getting admitted to this spiritual school, but after that you should practise properly, you must keep good association, engage in Nama-sankirtan, listen to Hari-katha, Bhagavat-sravan, remember the holy dham, the holy places where Krishna's devotees live and where Krishna's pastimes happen (there are so many holy places), and you must also serve your Guru and Vaishnavs with love and affection, with full faith. These are the main things.

ব্রহ্মাণ্ড ভ্রমিতে কোন ভাগ্যবান্ জীব ।
গুরু-কৃষ্ণ-প্রসাদে পায় ভক্তিলতা-বীজ ॥

guru-krsna-prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija

"Having travelled throughout the universe and got the mercy of Guru, Krishna, a fortunate soul receives a seed of the devotional creeper."

You must understand this. Chant the Holy Name properly, chant your japa properly and serve as much as possible. You must also always listen to Hari-katha, Krishna-katha and always avoid bad association. Always avoid the association of those who do not serve Krishna—even if they are your parents. You may live with them—you may live with your husband, your wife, your family—but you must always keep away from their association. Association does not mean external association, it means associating heart to heart. Sometimes, when we sleep, there is also some mosquito sleeping with us in the bed, but we do not associate with that mosquito. In the same way, sometimes the mother and the father in some family are not devotees, sometimes they are against devotees, then you can stay with them in the same way that you stay with a mosquito.

This Holy Name that you are about to get now, is coming through a guru-parampara. It has come from Krishna to Brahma, from Brahma to Narad, from Narad to Vyasadev, from Vyasadev to Madhva Acharya—in this way, it came to Madhavendra Puri, then from Madhavendra Puri to Ishwar Puri, and from Ishwar Puri to Mahaprabhu. Mahaprabhu Himself took initiation to show that it is necessary to establish a relationship.

You live in Brazil, and your Brazilian president also has a family. In front of you, he is a president, he behaves formal and you have no relation with him, but when he is at his house, he is not a president there—he is a member of the family and his family members know him as he is. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a proper relationship with your Guru, and this relationship comes through service. You must establish a relationship with devotees through service, by dealing with them following proper etiquette, developing proper attitude. If you can continue your spiritual life in this way, you must succeed in your spiritual life.

So, this Holy Name came to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He is the Lord Himself, but even He took initiation. After that, the Holy Name eventually came to Srila Jagannath Das Babaji Maharaj, Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, our Guru Maharaj Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, and finally our Gurudev Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj. After that, this Holy Name came to me because Gurudev told me, "If somebody wants to chant this Holy Name, if somebody wants to join the family of Krishna and wants to spend the rest of their life living a spiritual life, you can give initiation to them." It is necessary to sacrifice your life for the service of the Lord.

Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Everything that is going on here all over the world comes from Him. America is saying that China has brought covid-19, but what neither America, nor China knows is that this covid-19 is coming from the Lord—it is coming from Yamaraj on the order of the Lord. No matter who it is, one can be a great man, one can have a great brain, but we must understand that those who will die, will die. We cannot stop death as much as we cannot stop birth. It is rolling on automatically. Actually, we are neither born, nor do we die. The fact is that we only always change our bodies. However, now that you have got a human body, you must understand what is its purpose—why must you live like cats and dogs? Everyone has a family—dogs have a family, pigs have a family, oxen have a family, tigers have a family, cows have a family, buffalos have a family, snakes have a family, frogs have a family, and you also have a family, but there is a difference between your body and all the other species: you have got a human body, you have intelligence, you have a good brain (sumedha), and you must take advantage of that good brain, use it for a good purpose.

Now come in front of me one by one. Sit a little distance from each other—keep social distance, but not mental distance. Damodar Prabhu, give the beads to the first devotee.

This is Pancha-tattva's Name. First chant this Pancha-tattva's Name and ask Them for Their mercy because They have brought this Holy Name to this abode. We cannot chant this Holy Name without Their mercy. Then, start chanting from the big beads, one by one. There are big beads and small beads on both sides of the biggest bead called sumeru—start chanting from the big beads. Chant on each bead, one by one. You do not need to chant together with me now, you can chant later, now only listen properly to me.

হরে কৃষ্ণ হরে কৃষ্ণ কৃষ্ণ কৃষ্ণ হরে হরে ।
হরে রাম হরে রাম রাম রাম হরে হরে ॥

Chant in this way from the big beads to the small beads, then take turn and chant from the small beads to the big beads. Chant in this way sixteen rounds or more, that is good for you. If you are busy with service any day, then you must chant not less than four rounds—four rounds must be chanted every day. There is also a book about the ten offences, you must read what these ten offences are. Read the whole book, but read about the ten offences properly and avoid them. If you can chant the Holy Name without offences, you will get the result quickly, Krishna will reveal Himself in your heart and you will succeed in your spiritual life.
