Kolkata-Worldwide, 14 June 2020, part 1

I am very happy to see you all. By the mercy of Gurudev, we are all trying to serve Gurudev's mission together. You are all my friends, my godbrothers, my guru-varga, you are all my well-wishers, and you always help me in the service for the Mission. You are giving so much energy, so much enthusiasm to me to do some service. Even in this pandemic time, we also do not stop our programme, we do not stop doing some service to the devotees. This kind of disease, this kind of problem will always come—when you are going to start some service, some problem will always come, but we will overcome all problems and succeed in our spiritual life. That is our main thinking and main vision. Our aim in life is to make our guru-varga, our Gurudev and Vaishnavs happy.

Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur says that Goloka-Adipati and Vaikuntha-Adipati (Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu) do not always or easily accept service from this material world (sakuntha jagat, limited mundane world). We always do service with some little fault, little mistake, and the Lord does not easily accept such service, but if we ask great Vaishnavs, Gurudev, for forgiveness, they will always forgive us. Vaishnavs and Gurudev always take truti-yukta seva (ত্রুটিযুক্ত সেবা, defective, faulty service)—service with some mistake or fault. They accept it easily.

I remember one time Gurudev was taking prasadam that had been offered to the Deities. There was some boiled and mashed potato with a little chilli, salt, etc. When Gurudev tasted it, it turned out that there was no salt in it. Gurudev asked his servitor, "Has this been offered to the Lord?" The servitor said, "Yes, it has been offered to the Deities. I have brought it from the Deities' plate." Gurudev was very angry. He told, "This is truti-yukta seva, faulty service—you did not put salt in it. I can take it because it is Krishna's prasad, but I do not know how Krishna will accept this service."

The Lord does not accept service with mistake—everything must be clean and properly done. We are fallen souls, that is why we do not go to serve the Lord directly, we always go through a Vaishnav, through our Gurudev. We do service through Gurudev and through Vaishnavs, and Gurudev always rectifies us—he always says, "This is not good," "This is good," "This is not good," etc. This is how we get trained. We have got a good trainer and we have got good teachings from our Gurudev.

We must try to serve the Lord properly. As I have just said, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur says that Vaikuntha-Adipati and Goloka-Adipati do not accept service from this mundane (sakuntha) world, but the Guru and Vaishnavs accept our faulty service. Even if there is some mistake in our service, Guru and Vaishnavs easily accepting it, but Krishna will not accept it. That is why, it will be good if we serve the Lord through Gurudev. We do not go to serve to the Lord directly, we always go through a great Vaishnav or Gurudev. That is the main thing. And we are very happy that we have got a bona fide Guru—our beloved Gurudev Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj Srila Prabhupad. If we follow this, we can easily understand how we can make our guru-varga and Vaishnavs happy through our service.

We should realise it ourselves: how much can we proceed in our spiritual life and why did we come to Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math?
