Love for Guru, Not Yourself His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Our time is very short, this life is very short, we must not be lazy. We must not lose our time—we will always be punctual in our service and we will engage in proper activities, proper service to our Gurudev, to our Gurudev's Mission. We will give love and affection to and take proper care of Gurudev's Deities, Gurudev's mission, and Gurudev's devotees. That is our reality, and we can attain it through practice. Practice makes perfect. We must always think how we can improve the quality of our service. Everybody does not have the same service quality, everybody may not have facility for the service to the Lord, but we must serve through love and affection, through our heart to the best of our capacity. Our heart and mind must be always clean. Do not give any place to dirty things—always remove dirty things from your heart. We must be simple Vaishnavs. We must practise simple living and high thinking. Our thinking is focused on the highest things, and we must reach our goal, we must go to our proper place, the place where we have come from. It is only possible for a human being, and by the mercy of the Lord we have got this human body, we have got a bona fide teacher, a bona fide guru. Then, we must do our service properly always remembering him. Sometimes, you think, "I will not do this service," but Krishna's service will always be fulfilled. If you do not do it, then it will be your loss because somebody else will do that service, it is not a problem. Service can never be stopped. If somebody does not do their service, then some other devotee will come and do it. So, we must try to do our service to the best of our ability, as soon as possible, as much as possible. We will do our best, and we will give best things to our Gurudev. Actually, we are becoming very selfish—we always think about ourselves, we always think about our own happiness, but we do not know whether happiness will come or not. Besides, the happiness you get in this material life, is very temporary—sometimes happiness comes, sometimes sadness comes. For a devotee, whether it is happiness or sadness, it is the same. We must realise what it means to be a proper disciple and we must try to be proper disciples of our Guru. A disciple always thinks, "When will Gurudev chastise me?" To get chastised by Gurudev is a disciple's happiness. Devotees know, "If I get chastised by Gurudev, it is the mercy of Gurudev." You can read in the scriptures also—when Sriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu praised Srila Sanatan Goswami and chastised Srila Jagadananda Pandit, Srila Sanatan Goswami said to Him, "Prabhu, You are giving bitter to me, and You are giving sweet to Jagadananda Pandit." One time, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also beat Srila Advaita Prabhu. To test Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Srila Advaita Prabhu one time started preaching mayavadi conception, and Mahaprabhu came to his house and beat him. Srila Advaita Prabhu was happy, he said, "Yes, this is what I wanted!" Another time, in Sri Puri Dham, Mahaprabhu asked Srila Srivas Pandit, "Srivas, who do you think Advaita Prabhu is? Who can you compare him to? Tell Me." Srila Srivas Pandit replied, "I would compare Advaita Prabhu with Sukadev Goswami or Prahlad Maharaj." Hearing this, Mahaprabhu became very angry and slapped Srila Srivas Pandit! Then He took a stick and was about to hit him, but Sriman Advaita Prabhu stopped Him, "Prabhu, please forgive him—he does not know what he is saying." After that, Sriman Mahaprabhu glorified Advaita Prabhu. Who is Advaita Acharya? Sriman Mahaprabhu explained that 'Advaita' means the Lord, and 'Acharya' means he who comes to this world as a devotee to preach and spread Krishna consciousness. This is who is called 'Advaita Acharya.' And who are Prahlad Maharaj and Sukadev Goswami? They are babies compared to Advaita Prabhu—Prahlad Maharaj and Sukadev Goswami belonged to a younger generation, but Advaita Acharya is so much higher than them, he belongs to a much more senior generation. This is how Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu explained the glory of Sri Advaita Prabhu. He chastised Srivas Pandit,
Angry, Mahaprabhu spoke, "Srivasiya, what did you say?! You do not know anything! What are you saying about Advaita Prabhu? He is My 'nada' (নাড়া)—he has pulled Me down from Goloka (Vrindavan) to this Bhuloka (material world). He did that. With Tulasi leaves and water of the Ganges, he shouted and called Me here. He has brought Me to this world." In this way Sriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu glorified Sri Advaita Acharya...
