(3/6) Everything Is His Will

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Basirhat, 15 December 2020, noon, part 3
Translated from Bengali

It is necessary to keep faith. Srivas Pandit had faith. Mukunda had faith. There are many examples. When gurudev says 'it will happen', then you must not have any second thoughts.

Gurudev said to me, 'Become a beggar (bhikhari, ভিখারি), and you will get supreme benefit', so I do not worry about anything. Somebody tried to throw a bomb at me to kill me, but instead they got their own hand blasted. Gurudev had warned me about it a minute before it happened. He told me to hold on, and I saw at that time a man running down the street with a bomb in his hand – because I did not come that way, the bomb exploded in the man's hand, and he died. So, if the Lord protects you, nobody can kill you.

'Marabi rakhabi, yo ichchha tohara (মারবি রাখবি—যো ইচ্ছা তোহার): You can kill me or You can keep me and protect me, that is Your matter, it is up to You' (Saranagati). One time, somebody called me, saying, 'You came to us yesterday, but today my grandchild has fallen into the river!' I told them, 'Your grandchild is the Lord's child, so the Lord will protect the child. Why are you crying so much? You do not need to worry whether the water was deep or shallow...' One time, when I was giving a class in Hooghly, I got a phone call from Nabadwip. It was four o'clock in the afternoon. The devotee was shaking with fear because something very bad had happened. He asked me where the keys from the car were. We had two cars: I took one to go for preaching, and the other car was at the temple. I told the devotee that the keys were in the driver's room and that they could break his room's lock to take the keys. I did not ask what happened. When I finished the class, I called back and found out that a devotee who was serving Gurudev had fallen from the dome of the temple. The dome is 105-foot-high (32-meter-high), and there is marble on the ground all around it, but the devotee who had fallen down was not harmed. He was taken first to Nabadwip hospital and then to Apollo hospital, and he was alright – he only hurt his leg a little. On the other hand, there was a devotee, a disciple of Srila Sridhar Maharaj, who did a lot of service at the temple. During the festival time, he would wash the dishes until late at night, keeping them at the storage room, and as he had to wake up early the next day, he would just sleep in the storage room. Where did that devotee fall from? From a three-foot-high (one-meter-high) guava tree! He saw some guavas on the tree and wanted to pick them to offer them to the Deities, but when he climbed it, a branch broke off and he fell down and died.

So, if the Lord wants to save somebody and if the Lord wants to take somebody's service, He will keep them alive. And if somebody's service has finished and there is no more need for them to be here, the Lord will take them away – then no matter how much money you spend, nothing will save you. When the call comes from the Lord, you will have to leave.

So, I was telling you about why sadhus, gurus and Vaishnavs come to beg. They come to the house of enjoyers who think that everything in this world exists for their enjoyment and ask them for some rice, dal, ten rupees – when they get something from them, whatever it is, they use it for the service to Govinda. When the hard-earned wealth of materialists is used for the Lord, those materialists can get some benefit, some sukriti. Sukriti means using the Lord's things for the Lord's service (tad vastu tadiya sevaya, তদ বস্তু তদীয় সেবায়). Materialists think, 'I have earned it! I have worked, so I have got this. It is there because of me!' But the Lord is the giver and the Lord is the taker – He may give you something, He may not give you something, and He may also give you something and then take it back.

So, you think that this child is yours, but the Lord can take him away. The Lord has given you something, then you are able to keep it, but the Lord can also take it away from you. The Lord has given you some happiness, a child, but the Lord can also take that happiness away from you; or the Lord may not give you any happiness. 'Kartavya na akartavya anya ta kartama (কর্ত্তব্য না অকর্ত্তব্য অন্য ত কর্তম): He can cancel that which is to happen, and He can do even that which is not to happen.' Even that which is to happen may not happen, and that which is to happen may not happen; or something completely different may happen. Everything is His will.

Lord Nrisimhadev and
'Krishna in my heart'
Succint answers to two frequent questions: can we worship Lord Nrisimhadev, and can we think that Krishna is in my heart and be satisfied with that?

If we chant the Holy Name with our mouth, bad words and criticism of Vaishnavs
cannot come to our mouth.
