We promised to the Lord:

ভজিব বলিয়া এসে সংসার-ভিতরে ।
ভুলিয়া রহিলে তুমি অবিদ্যার ভরে ॥

bhajiba baliya ese samsara-bhitare
bhuliya rahile tumi avidyara bhare

'Forgetting that you came to this world saying, "I will serve You," you remained engulfed in ignorance.'

Avidya means maya-vidya (illusory knowledge): have forgotten everything, you are thinking, 'My house', 'My son', 'This is my family', 'If I do not work, my family will not survive.' Who are you to do anything? What is your capacity? You say that this is your house, but you can be taken to the cremation ghat this very instant. Why on earth do you think this family or this house is yours? Why do you have so much ego and pride. 'My wealth', 'my son', 'my family'... Give up everything to the Lord! 'O Lord, this is Your son, You will protect him.'

I always tell you: plant Tulasi at home, and before you leave home, offer obeisances to Tulasi. When your husband or son goes out to work every day, Tulasi will bring him back home. Always offer obeisances to Tulasi at home. When you go out, offer obeisances to Tulasi before leaving. As soon as I get into the car, I always remember Lord Nrisinghadev and Gurudev. Nobody knows when you have to leave this world – you may get into the car and leave; but if Lord Nrisinghadev protects you, then nobody can kill you. My Gurudev often said: when you go outside, you must go carrying death in your pocket. Every time you go out, there is no guarantee you will come back home.

You think, 'I need much money!' But be it a wealthy man, a poor man, a wicked man, a bad man, a great wealthy landowner – do they not die? Everyone will go the same place. If you do bad things, you will go to hell, and if you do good things, you will go to heaven.

Sometimes, when people see us wearing tilaks, they ask us, 'Do you want to go to heaven?' No, we do not. None of us want heaven.

নাহি মাগি দেহ-সুখ, বিদ্যা, ধন, জন ॥
নাহি মাগি স্বর্গ, আর মোক্ষ নাহি মাগি ।
না করি প্রার্থনা কোন বিভূতির লাগি’ ॥

nahi magi deha-sukha, vidya, dhana, jana
nahi magi svarga ara moksa nahi magi
na kari prarthana kona vibhutira lagi

'I do not pray for bodily pleasure, learning, wealth, or followers. I do not pray for heaven, I do not pray for liberation, and I do not pray for any supernatural powers.'

We want neither heaven nor liberation. We put our foot on the head of Mukti (Liberation) and go to Bhakti (devotion). We do not put our foot on everyone's heads. We put our foot on the head of Mukti and go down the path of Bhakti.

নাহি মাগি দেহ-সুখ, বিদ্যা, ধন, জন ॥
নাহি মাগি স্বর্গ, আর মোক্ষ নাহি মাগি ।
না করি প্রার্থনা কোন বিভূতির লাগি’ ॥

We do not want any powers. 'I am staying in a devotee's house, serving Tulasi Devi, serving devotees and the Lord. The Lord is the master.' You must enthrone the Lord at your house. Keep the Lord in your house. Wake up early in the morning, offer worship to the Lord, offer obeisance to the Lord. What problem is there for you if you do it? What loss will there be for your family? Rather, if you do this, your family will live peacefully. The Lord says, 'You are always busy worrying about your food and clothes, you always forget about Me, then why will I look after you? Remember Me, think about Me. You came from Me, but you fell into illusory bondage and forgot about Me.' Sadhus come and, moving Maya away, make you remember the holy feet of gurudev, help you surrender and take shelter of gurudev. Once you take shetler of Sri Guru, you must practise Krishna consciousness. You must make some sacrifice for that; otherwise, you will not get the result.
