The Way Out His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
If you do not understand what I am reading, buy the book and read it yourself. It is written in a difficult language. Guru Maharaj (Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj) spoke in English (In Search of the Original Source), and I translated it into Bengali. The book is already sold, buy it. What does he say to you here? Guru Maharaj explains how Maya attacks us. It is said in Srimad Bhagavad-gita:
দৈবী হ্যেষা গুণময়ী মম মায়া দুরত্যয়া ।
daivi hy esa gunamayi, mama maya duratyaya "My alluring, 'trimodal,' illusory potency is practically insurmountable. However, those who take shelter in Me can overcome this powerful obstacle." (Srimad Bhagavad-gita, 7.14) The Lord is saying, "I am the master of Maya. I have created Maya." If you heat a piece of iron in fire and then touch it to somebody's cloth or skin, the iron will burn it. Could the iron burn before? It could not. If you touch yourself with a piece of iron, nothing happens, but if you place that iron into fire, it will burn—the iron gets the power to burn us from fire. In the same way, Maya also gets power from the Lord and does her job. People cry, shout, sleep, walk around, live a family life—what makes them do all this? Maya. Everyone is living within Maya's family. So, people think, "This is my house," "This is my son," etc. So, the Lord is saying, "I have created Maya, and you cannot overcome her. Yet there is a way out: although I have created Maya, I remove Maya from those who surrender to Me. When a jiva soul surrenders to Me, I tell Maya, 'Go away from here. Do not attack this soul. This is My friend, this soul has become surrendered to My feet. Do not touch them any more. This is My person.' You know, there are (political) party people. If a man becomes a party member, then even if he steals something and the police catches him, the party says, "All right. This is our man, let him go." In the same way, the Lord say, "He is My man, let him go. Maya, you must leave."
