His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Two days before Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj's Vyasa Puja
Nrisingha Palli, 30 December 2020, evening, part 8

There are many bizarre places in India—Garo, Khasi, Naga. In Nagaland, people eat cats and dogs! We were such people before, but now we have got wiser—we have taken birth in India... I remember one time a cow had died and I went to dump its body in some place. As soon as we left the cow's body, vultures, jackals, and dogs ran there and started fighting over that cow's dead body. I had never seen vultures before... We too have been born in all these kinds of species.

I remember I went out in the car to visit some places—I remember I went to 24 Parganas, Uluberia, Kolkata (Raja Bazar), and Mednipore. Suddenly, I saw on the road jackals fightings over dogs' bodies! Next to that, in the middle of the road, all the dead bodies were burnt. I often go different roads and I saw in some place an advertisement, "Five rupees for a dead chicken." Drivers steal also—if ten chickens die, the driver will say twelve died, and he will sell those dead chickens to some hotel.

I have also heard another story. It is happening in Dum Dum area also. They have made furnace for animals. They did well because before people used to dump dead animals in gardens. When somebody dumped an animal, the local people would come and take the body, and mix the animal's meat with some good meat, pack it and sell to hotels, etc. This is what they serve. They hang big sign board saying, "Dada Boudir Hotel. Meat and rice for Rs.300 When I saw it, I thought to myself, "They charge Rs.300 for meat and rice, but they must be serving dead chicken meat. Another time, I saw some people queuing for meat and fighting. Somebody cut the line and a man said, "I am buying a lot! I need 2 kg! Why are you giving to him first? What will there be left for?!" When I saw this, I thought: when a cow, a cat or a chicken dies on the street, all the dogs come to fight over the dead body; these people are just like that—they start biting and shouting. Such are people in our country. Bengali people cannot live without their meat and rice.

The other day, I spoke to a man. I asked him, "Why are you distributing prasadam?!" He said, "I have taken initiation!" I told him, "What initiation did you take?! You eat fish!" He said, "Well, fish, yes." And they wear neckbeads and put on big tilaks... If you go to Bangladesh, you will see even more. There, people say, "Jay Nitai!" but there is no question of giving up eating goat meat or chicken meat. They used to eat turtles before, but now turtles finished. If you went to Vrindavan before, you could see many turtles on the bank of the Yamuna, but this time I went there, I did not see any turtles. I asked somebody at Brahmanda Ghat where they had all gone (when we went there for the first time, there so many beautiful turtles there!). The man told me that many Bengalis had been coming and secretly eating all the turtles. It is prohibited to eat fish and meat in Vrindavan... I have tried to make the same in Nabadwip, I even went to High Court for that! Wait and see, I will succeed; it is only a matter of time. I have tried so much for thirty years. I have stopped picnics in Mayapur, but I could not stop anything else. But wait and see—the time will come and they will stop all nonsense: they must stop selling and eating meat and fish in Nabadwip. People think, "Oh, if I stay in a temple and eat meat, it will be a sin, but if I stay in a hotel and eat meat, fish there, it will not be a sin." People come with this idea...

So, you have been born as a human 400,000 times, but this time:

ভারত-ভূমিতে হৈল মনুষ্য-জন্ম যার ।
জন্ম সার্থক করি' কর পর-উপকার ॥

bharata-bhumite haila manusya janma yara
janma sarthaka kari' kara para-upakara

"One who has taken his birth as a human being in the land of India should take advantage of his birth and bring benefit to all other people."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 9.41)

Digesting Gurudev's Love
'They cannot understand how much love and affection Gurudev has for them. They think Gurudev loves his disciples but not his godbrothers and godsisters, and that is why they left..'

Sujanarvuda-radhita-pada-yugam
'He is the leader of the great souls who are endowed with devotion and the sole, greatly merciful shelter for the fallen. His inconceivable feet are the shelter of even the deceitful by deceiving them. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's lotus feet.'

We must be tolerant like a tree, and if somebody criticises you, do not give
opposition to them, but rather in lieu of that you must take care of them.
