Jewel of Sincerity

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Kolkata—Worldwide, 31 January 2021, part 7

...I have heard that two boys and two girls have run away from the temple [in the West]. They left because we say we are searching for Sri Krishna, but in lieu of that we are searching for boys and girls. These are very hard words for me to say. They think, "If you join Krishna consciousness, you will get a beautiful wife or a beautiful husband." If you want a wife, go outside and take some girl from outside, why do you do this at the temple? Marry some non-devotee and turn them into a devotee; in this way, one more person will come to Krishna consciousness, which is good. Do you understand what I am saying?

Recently two young Bengali girls have come to Nrisingha Palli and stay at the temple now. One of them has been married for six months, and the other one was going to get married, but then she refused. She told me, "I know what family life is, I do not want to go to hell. I am fine as I am, I do not want to get married. Save me, Gurudev." I said, "Yes, I can save you—if you do not want to get married, then come and join full time, you can stay at the temple." She received initiation many years ago, and now her parents wanted to arrange her marriage. I told her that she was twenty-five years old, so it was ultimately her decision. I was ready to help arrange her marriage—I had given initiation to one family and already agreed with them about the marriage, but then she refused; she came to me and said crying, "Gurudev, save me! Why are you throwing me into family life? I have come to you to beg you to save me, but you are throwing me into family life..." What can I do? I stopped her marriage, and now she is doing the best service—she is cooking at the temple very nicely. Both girls are living now in the temple. And I have told them: if any brahmachari or sannyasi disturbs them, if they say anything untoward to them, I will not hesitate to change [the colour of] their clothes. Srila Prabhupad did not hesitate to do so, neither will I. (Gurudev told me that Srila Prabhupad Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur once took back one devotee's sannyas. Guru can give one sannyasi or brahmachari clothes, and Guru has the power to take it back also.)

...I am very sad because foreign devotees seem to be unable to come for Gaura Purnima this year... The Indian government stopped giving visa and this law is extended until the end of February now. I do not know if they will extend it again after that or not, but they do not give visa to anyone this whole month. It looks like this year we will have to make the parikrama without foreign devotees. Srila Ashram Maharaj comes for this parikrama every year, and we will mainly miss him this year. Anyhow, try to come last moment—if Krishna gives the visa, you can buy the ticket and come. This year we are doing the parikrama during five days because we are going to visit Rudradwip...

...Please forgive my offence. I have told you too many strong words, but I am telling this for your benefit—what I have said is very good for your spiritual life. I practised proper brahmachari life, and I am telling you about my experience. It is very necessary to hear this. Follow this properly in your life, and it will be very good.

[His Divine Grace speaking to Singapore devotees:] Mahalaksmi Didi worried about Doyal Nitai before because he was naughty at the beginning, but now he is a very quiet boy, he does not ask anything. He has grown to be a very good boy. When I visited Rajeswari Didi's house, Doyal Nitai came at that time and I saw he was very naughty, but now he is a very quiet, a very gentle boy. I told Mahalaksmi Didi at that time that she should not worry. And he is not only a good mridanga player—he has sincerity. When we did Govardhan parikrama, he had been walking several kilometres and, even though he was exhausted and nearly crying, he could not stop—he kept walking. I saw it and took him into my car with the mridanga...

All right, I am finishing for today. Thank you very much, I was very happy to see you all.

Niskam Bhakti: With Heart and Soul
'Do not show false renunciation, devotion must be in the heart. Love with heart and soul—serve heart and soul. If you show you are doing some service, but in your mind you are asking for something else from the Lord, from your Guru, it is not niskam bhakti.'

Jaya 'guru-maharaja'
'You are the mine of the siddhanta revealed by Sri Gauranga and Srila Saraswati Thakur. You discovered the divine meaning of the gayatri mantra.'
