Goloka at Your Home His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
যে দিন গৃহে,ভজন দেখি,
ye dina grhe, bhajana dekhi, "On days when I see devotional service going on within my home, I feel that Goloka has manifested there. Seeing the Ganges, the river of nectar that emanates from the Lord's feet, my happiness has no limit." Every day, wake up early in the morning, come for mangal arati. Follow all rules and regulations strictly. Offer bhog to the Lord five times a day. In this verse, bhajan (ye dina grhe bhajana dekhi) means service, not just kirtan. Bhajan means you wake up early in the morning, wake up the Lord at four in the morning, offer arati, give balya-bhoga. Your mother will wake up and cook in the morning, you will offer this bhoga to the Lord, then you can go to work—take some prasad with you in a tiffin box. In the evening, you come back, wash your hands and feet, do arati, then your mother will offer bhog in the evening. You must live following these rules. You must follow these things strictly, without fail. When you come home in the evening, offer arati, do Tulasi parikrama—if you have time, chant kirtans. If you do this, you will not have time to go to tea shops to discuss politics.
গ্রাম্যকথা না শুনিবে, গ্রাম্যবার্ত্তা না কহিবে ।
gramya-katha na sunibe, gramya-varta na kahibe "Do not listen to the mundane talks, do not listen to the mundane news. Do not eat fancy food, do not wear fancy clothes. Do not expect honour to yourself, but offer all respect to others. Always chant the Holy Name of Krsna, and in your mind serve Radha-Krsna." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Antya-lila, 6.236-237) You do not need to get anything out-of-the-world to serve the Lord.
ভক্তের জিনিষ প্রভু লুটিপুটি খায়
bhakter jinish prabhu lutiputi khay "The Lord eats anything and everything when a devotee offers it, but He does not take anything from a non-devotee." A non-devotee cannot even give anything to the Lord. On the contrary, they always want something from the Lord—they make the Lord their menial servant. However, devotees serve the Lord, they always think, "How can I make the Lord happy? How can I please the Lord?" People live at leisure: they sleep till eight, and when they wake up, they have some tea with milk, brush your teeth, etc., and the Lord stays as He is. If you live like this, you will not get any result. Goloka Vrindavan is in your home—if you can turn your home into a temple and if you can turn your family into a family of Krishna. "Kariya Krsnera samsara chhadi' anachar (করিয়া কৃষ্ণের সংসার ছাড়ি' অনাচার)": leave your bad habits and make family a family of Krishna. You must give up bad habits. If you eat meat, if you eat fish and practise Krishna consciousness—do you think it will work? You make a fire sacrifice, but if you put one spoon ghee and one spoon water, then your fire will go out. Two things cannot go together; therefore, you must do what is favourable to devotion and you must reject what is unfavourable to devotion. If you do not reject the unfavourable, it will not work out. Both cannot go together. If you stand with your feet in two boats, will you go far like this? Therefore, you must practise Krishna consciousness properly. You have got this human body as a result of a great fortune, and it is not certain that you will get it again. If you cannot serve and worship the Lord in this birth, nobody can say how long you will have to wander throughout all the species again. Do you understand what I am saying? [His Divine Grace then concludes singing 'Suddha-bhakata-charana-renu' and chants other kirtans.]
তুলসী দেখি'জুড়ায় প্রাণ,
tulasi dekhi' judaya prana, (7) Seeing Tulasi Devi relieves my heart, for I know she is pleasing to Madhava. By honouring sak, a favourite of Sri Gaurasundar, I consider my life successful.
