Approaching Nityananda Prabhu His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami is describing the glory of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu in a very beautiful way (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.5.157-168). Listen to it.
sri-chaitanya—sei krsna, nityananda—rama "Lord Caitanya is the same Lord Krishna, and Lord Nityananda is Lord Balaram. Lord Nityananda fulfills all of Lord Chaitanya's desires." Nityananda Prabhu takes charge in fulfilling Mahaprabhu's desire—He performs the works that Mahaprabhu wants to do. Mahaprabhu gave Him charge, "Nityananda, preach in Bengal. If You leave for Jagannath Puri, what will become of this land?" This is why, Nityananda Prabhu preached Mahaprabhu's message in this world. He said,
ভজ গৌরাঙ্গ, কহ গৌরাঙ্গ, লহ গৌরাঙ্গের নাম রে
bhaja gauranga, kaha gauranga, laha gaurangera nama re "Worship Gauranga! Say Gauranga! Take Gauranga's Name! Those who worship Gauranga are My heart and soul!"
yare dekhe tare kahe dante trna dhari' "He says with a straw in His teeth to whoever He sees, 'I will be sold to you, please accept, serve Gaurahari!'" Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami received Nityananda Prabhu's mercy—Nityananda Prabhu came to him in a dream and prohibited him to associate with his brother; after that, Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami left his house and went to Vrindavan.
nityananda-mahima-sindhu ananta, apara "The ocean of Lord Nityananda's glories is infinite and unfathomable. Only by His mercy can I touch even a drop of it."
ara eka suna taìra krpara mahima "Please listen to another glory of His mercy. He made a fallen living entity climb to the highest limit."
veda-guhya katha ei ayogya kahite "To disclose it is not proper, for it should be kept as confidential as the Vedas, yet I shall speak of it to make His mercy known to all."
ullasa-upari lekhon tomara prasada "O Lord Nityananda, I write of Your mercy out of great exultation. Please forgive me for my offenses." Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami then speaks about the Vedas, saying, "I am not fit to speak about Nityananda Prabhu's glory, which are as sacred as the topics of the Vedas, but I am speaking about it to reveal His mercy to the world. If there is any fault in what I say, please forgive my offence." What should we pray for when we come to Nityananda Prabhu? We should pray, "Please forgive me, Nityananda; please forgive my offences." This is all we can want from the Lord. We always make offences, consciously or unconsciously. We are offenders! We are offenders to the Holy Name, that is why the Holy Name does not come to our mouths. It is said, "Krsna-bahirmukha jivera nahi Krsna smrti-jnana—souls that are averse to Krishna have no knowledge or remembrance of Krishna." The Holy Name does not come to the mouths of such persons—even if they chant the Holy Name, it will not produce any transformation in them.
‘কৃষ্ণনাম’ করে অপরাধের বিচার ।
'krsna-nama' kare aparadhera vichara "The Holy Name of Krishna always considers who is an offender. Even if an offender chants the Name of Krishna all the time, it produces no transformation within them." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8:24) The Holy Name always judges whether the person chanting the Holy Name is an offender or not, and the Holy Name never comes to the mouths of those who are offenders. Such persons always want something from Krishna, from Nitai. You can see so many people coming here—somebody comes to receive mercy, and somebody comes to earn money. Is everyone the same? I have been to the market here—they are selling chamara fans at double price, and all the chamara fans are fake (made of nylon). People queue at the shop to buy it. People come here thinking, "What should I get for my granddaughter?" You worry about your grandchildren! They will ask you, "Grandma, what have you brought? What have you brought?" I see everything. We come to some place to chant kirtan and somebody goes to the shop to buy something. Instead of the Holy Name, their minds go to, "What should I buy?"...
