Translated from Bengali

When Sriman Mahaprabhu was in Panihati, He also sang in praise of Sri Nityananda Prabhu. Mahaprabhu is the Supreme Lord Himself, and Sri Nityananda Prabhu is non-different from Mahaprabhu – He manifests only to serve Mahaprabhu, that is why it is said ‘eka deha dui rupa’ (one body but two forms).

panihati-grame haila parama-ananda
apane saksat yatha prabhu gaurachandra

‘The village of Panihati became jubilant because Lord Gaurachandra was personally present there.’

raghava pandita-prati sri-gaurasundara
nibhrte karila kichhu rahasya-uttara

‘Sri Gaurasundar spoke confidentially to Raghav Pandit in a solitary place.’

“raghava, tomare ami nija-gopya kai
amara dvitiya nahi nityananda bai

‘O Raghav, I want to tell you a secret. Nityananda is non-different from Me.’

ei nityananda yei karaya amare
se-i kari ami, ei balila tomare

‘I am telling you, I do whatever Nityananda makes Me do.’

amara sakala karma—nityananda-dvare
akapate ei ami kahila tomare

‘All My activities are actually performed through Nityananda. I am telling this to you frankly.’

yei ami, se-i nityananda—bheda nai
tomara gharei saba janiba ethai

‘There is no difference between Myself and Nityananda. Let everyone in your house know this.’

maha-yogesvare yaha paite durlabha
nityananda haite taha paiba sulabha

‘You can easily get from Nityananda that which is rarely attained even by the great masters of yoga.’

eteke haiya tumi maha-savadhana
nityananda seviha—yehena bhagavan’

‘Therefore, serve Nityananda very carefully knowing Him to be the Supreme Lord Himself.’

If you look at a Deity and see stone, brass or any other materials, it means that you do not know what service is. In other words, even if you try to serve with this kind of mentality, it will not be service. The Deity is not a doll or an idol – the Deity is the Lord Himself! Krishna Himself played here with Nityananda Prabhu. He disappeared at that time, but later His Deity was found at Kadam Khandi. When you went for the parikrama, you saw the last place – there is Krishna’s Deity in the temple, worshipped together with Jahnava and Vasuddha. Jahnava and Vasuddha found that Deity of Bankarai Krishna floating in the Yamuna, here in Sri Ekachakra Dham.

tilarddheka nityanande dvesa yara rahe
satata bhajileo se mora priya nahe

‘Those who harbour even a tinge of envy towards Nityananda can never become dear to Me, even if they worship Me forever.’

(Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu)

gopi-ganera sei prema kahe bhagavate
eka nityananda haite paibe jagate

‘In this world, you can attain the love of gopis that is described in Bhagavatam only from Nityananda.’

samsarera para hai’ bhaktira sagare
ye dubibe, se bhajuka nitai-chandere

‘If you desire to cross the ocean of material existence and dive into the ocean of devotion, may you serve Sri Nitaichand!’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 1.1.77)

If you are to cross this ocean of material existence, you must worship Nityananda Prabhu, or gurudev. You cannot make it without worshipping the guru.

mukheha ye jana bale ‘nityananda-dasa’
se avasya dekhibeka chaitanya-prakasa

‘Those who say, even just lip-deep, that they are servants of Nityananda Prabhu will, no doubt, see Lord Chaitanya manifest before them.’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 2.28.192)

madira yavani yadi nityananda dhare
tathapi brahmara vandya kahila tomare

‘Even if Nityananda Prabhu comes drunk with a Muslim lady by His side, He is always worshippable for Lord Brahma.’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 3.6.123)

‘svatantra’ kariya vede ye krsnere kaya
hena krsna para tumi karite vikraya

‘Nityananda, You can sell Krishna, who is proclaimed to be Independent by the Vedas, to others (although Krishna is not controlled by anyone, through Your service, You have gained right over Him – He has become Your property).’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 3.7.43)

Nitai can sell Krishna to you! Do you understand this? He has this kind of power!

prabhu bale,—“ei nityananda-svarupere
ye karaye bhakti-sraddha, se kare amare”

‘The Lord says, “Those who have devotion and faith for this Nityananda Svarup have devotion and faith for Me.”’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 2.12.55)

Mahaprabhu says, ‘It is those who have faith in Nityananda Prabhu that have actual faith in Me. You can never get Me without faith in Nityananda Prabhu.’ Without devotion to the guru, without devotion to Sri Nityananda Prabhu, you cannot get the Lord.

inhana charana—siva-brahmara vandita
ataeva inhane kariha sabe prita

‘Nityananda Prabhu is worshipped even by Lord Siva and Brahma, that is why He is dear to everyone.’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 2.12.56)

How can you recognise Nityananda Prabhu? We cannot recognise Him by looking at Him with our eyes because our eyes are blinded with material dust and we cannot see anything without these eyes. We see the Deity as an idol made of stone, wood or brass…

How beautiful these words are. Do you understand what I have just told you? We must sing this kirtan very well.

[His Divine Grace chants ‘Nitai amara parama dayala.’]

nitai amara parama dayala
aniya premera vanya, jagata karila dhanya,
bharila premete nadi khala [0]

‘My Nitai is supremely merciful. He blessed the entire world when He brought a flood of divine love, filling all channels and rivers with it.’

lagiya premera dheu, baki na raila keu,
papi tapi chalila bhasiya
sakala bhakata meli, se premete kare keli,
keha keha yaya santariya [1]

‘When the wave of divine love came, nobody was left behind – all sinners and miserable souls floated in its waters. All devotees played together in its waters, and some swam in them.’

dubila nadiyapura, dube preme santipura,
dohe mili baichha khelaya
ta dekhi nitai hase, sakalei preme bhase,
vasu ghosa habudubu khaya [2]

‘All Nadia and all Shantipur became submerged in that divine love, and both sides joined together and had a boat race. Seeing this, Nitai laughed. Everybody is floating in divine love, and Vasu Ghosh is struggling to keep afloat.’
