মূকং করোতি বাচালং পঙ্গুং লঙ্ঘয়তে গিরিম্ ।
যৎকৃপা তমহং বন্দে শ্রীগুরুং দীনতারণম্ ॥

mukam karoti vachalam pangum langhayate girim
yat krpa tam aham vande sri-gurum dina-taranam

‘The dumb can speak, the lame can climb a hill – all it takes is mercy from gurudev.’

First of all, I am offering my full obeisance at the reddish holy lotus feet of Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, begging him for his causeless mercy. After that, I am offering my obeisance to all guru-varga, to all my God-brothers and sisters, to all the listeners, to all the motherly lady devotees, to all devotees. I am praying to you all for your mercy to this lowly soul.

Today, on this auspicious day, we have observed the festival of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu’s appearance. It has passed very well. The devotees have done the parikrama of Sri Ekachakra Dham, and everybody has helped this festival in their own way. Many were helping distribute prasad, many were helping at the kitchen, many were also with us at the front, chanting and dancing. Sripad Niriha Maharaj also arranged many things whenever it was necessary to bring anything from outside. He also arranged the accommodation for everyone. Devotees did a lot of service. I have seen that many helped clean and cut the vegetables. I do not know the names of many of you, but you have all served in your own way, and Nityananda Prabhu notices everything – He will take best care of you. I pray for this at His holy lotus feet. I pray that He may keep you all well so that we can celebrate Sriman Nityananda Prabhu’s appearance day in this beautiful way next year, too, so that we can come to the holy dham and do dham-parikrama. This is what I pray for to Sriman Nityananda Prabhu and Sri Ekachakleshwar Dhameswar Sivji Maharaj.

Many have helped this festival, but you cannot help with money only. You can see the decoration of the temple – Kamlendu Prabhu, Sudevi Didi, Dharitri Didi from Colombia and Ranjana Didi from Nepal cleaned and decorated the temple and the altar. In one way or another, many devotees did some service. Those who do service are very fortunate.

If you behave deceitfully and try to cheat, you can never succeed like that. You cannot hide anything from gurudev, you cannot hide anything from Nityananda Prabhu – they do not bestow mercy on those who are deceitful. If a person says one thing but has something else inside, it is not good and it will not give any result. What you say and what you have inside must be the same; otherwise, if you are deceitful, you will not get the Lord’s mercy. Always serve the Lord without deceit. Do not keep any deceit. If you keep dirty, filthy things inside but externally speak in another way, that is not right, it will not take you anywhere. Nityananda Prabhu bestows His mercy on whoever falls at His feet sincerely, without any deceit. Srila Prabhupad Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur said, ‘Saralata-i vaisnavata (সরলতাই বৈষ্ণবতা). Being a Vaishnav means being simple.’ You will not get any result if you do not have simplicity. Do not keep any insincerity or duplicity (kutinati, কুটীনাটী). ‘This is good’, ‘That is bad’ – if you have such duplicity in your mind (if your external behaviour does not align with your internal mood), you cannot practise Krishna consciousness like that. No matter whether you have taken initiation, no matter how many rounds of the Holy Name you chant, everything will be in vain.

হেন কৃষ্ণনাম যদি লয় বহুবার ।
তবু যদি প্রেম নহে, নহে অশ্রুধার ॥
তবে জানি, অপরাধ তাহাতে প্রচুর ।
কৃষ্ণনাম-বীজ তাহে না করে অঙ্কুর ॥

hena krsna-nama yadi laya bahu-bara
tabu yadi prema nahe, nahe asrudhara
tabe jani, aparadha tahate prachura
krsna-nama-bija tahe na kare ankura

‘If you chant this Name of Krishna many times but there is still no love stirring within you, there are no tears streaming from your eyes, then you should know that you are making too many offences and the seed of Krishna’s Name does not sprout in you.’

কটি জন্ম যদি করে শ্রবণ-কীর্ত্তন ।
তবু না পায় ব্রজের নন্দের-নন্দন ॥

koti janma yadi kare sravana-kirtana
tabu na paya vrajendranandana

‘Even if you practise listening and chanting for millions of lives, you will not get Krishna, the Son of King of Vraja.’

You must chant the Holy Name rejecting all offences. Practise Krishna consciousness properly, with a simple heart and sincerity.
