—We have a programme every Saturday night...

Good, very nice. Through association even a naughty man can become perfect. If you rub a piece of iron against a magnet, the iron gets the power of the magnet. In the same way, if you keep good association, through that some of its power will also come to you. So, it is very nice, I am happy to see and hear that. It is very important.

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said,

“গোরার আমি, গোরার আমি” মুখে বলিলে নাহি চলে ।

গোরার আচার, গোরার বিচার লইলে ফল ফলে ॥

"gorara ami, gorara ami" mukhe balile nahi chale
gorara achara, gorara vichara la-ile phala phale

Just saying, "I am Gora's! I am Gora's!" does not do. Only when you follow Gora's practices and Gora's conception will you get the proper result.

(Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 8.6)

We must not only say, "I am a devotee of Gaura"—we must follow Gaura's instruction, follow His preaching, follow His teachings.

loka dekhana gora bhaja tilaka matra dhari'
gopanete atyachara gora dhare churi

You show the world you serve Gora simply by wearing tilak but secretly you misbehave. Gora will catch you, you thief!

(Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 8.7)

You show to the world that you are a devotee, but at the same time you are doing something else—you are attaching yourself with material desires and doing nonsense things—but Gora knows you are a thief! Gora knows it.

In this world, in this Age of Kali, there are so many problems—devotees face so many obstacles, but still, even with those obstacles, they practise properly, remember their Guru, remember Mahaprabhu's teachings,

trnadhika hina, dina, akinchana chhara
apane manabi sada chhadi' ahankara

"Give up your false ego, and always consider yourself lower than grass, poor, needy, and mean."

vrksa-sama ksama-guna karabi sadhana
pratihimsa tyaji' anye karabi palana

"Practise tolerance like a tree. Do not ill-treat others, instead nurture them."

jivana-nirvahe ane udvega na dibe
para-upakare nija-sukha pasaribe

"Do not trouble others for your own upkeep, and forget your own happiness in the course of helping others."

(Gitavali, Sri Siksastaka, 3.2-4, by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur)

Be humble, tolerant, give honour to others, give up your ego. It is not necessary be a big manager, it is not necessary be a big president—you only need to be a small servitor.

When Lalita Devi dresses Srimati Radharani, sometimes Radharani becomes very anxious, thinking, "When will I meet Krishna?" She becomes so excited that a drop of sweat appears on Her forehead, but Lalita cannot tolerate that—immediately she takes a cloth and removes that drop of water from Her forehead. This is the kind of service, the kind of service mood that is necessary. Such service mood comes through good association, through practising, so do not be hopeless.

Do not be too much attached to the material life—you got this material life in your previous life, and you will get it in your next life also, but any time we can get the notice and then it will be too late—we are not as fortunate as Pariksit Maharaj, we will not get even a seven-minute notice! Pariksit Maharaj was the king, and he had everything, but he got a seven-day notice that he had to leave his body and the world. Who gave the solution to his problem? Only Srimad Bhagavatam.

Arjun also got into so many problems, and he did not know how to solve them. Krishna gave him an order, "You must kill all your relatives," but he refused, "I do not want the kingdom, I do not want to be the king. I do not want to kill them!" Who solved the problem? Srimad Bhagavad-gita. You can understand from Srimad Bhagavad-gita that Krishna arranged everything.

In your practising life, in your Krishna consciousness life, you must promise that for as many days you have until your death, you will always chant the Holy Name, you will always chant Hare Krishna.

If somebody can hear "Hare Krishna" from your mouth, the benefit will come to you too. When you see a devotee, say, "Hare Krishna. Dandavat, Prabhu. How are you?" This is your courtesy. Even if somebody is your enemy, you should show them some etiquette and give them honour, "Dandavat, Prabhu. How are you?" Finished. Maybe you do not like that person's association, maybe you do not like that person, but you must show your humility and give honour to others. You must practise in this way.

Just as when you open a bank account but do not operate it properly (do not keep money there, do not withdraw any money) one day that account will be closed—so, some disturbance will come, but you have taken initiation and have already become a member of Krishna's family, and if you do not practise properly, if you do not renew your membership all the time, then your membership will be lost...

So, practise properly. Read Chaitanya-charitamrita, read Prema-vivarta, Nabadwip Dham Mahatmya, read Chaitanya-bhagavata, books by Srila Guru Maharaj, Srila Gurudev (Revealed Truth, Sri Guru and His Grace, Search for Sri Krishna Reality the Beautiful, there are so many books). Read these kinds of books sometimes and your tiredness, your unhappiness will be removed from your heart. Practise properly in this way and you will see...

Tolerance vs. Chastity
'When you have that kind of love and affection to your Guru, Deity, and Vaishnavs, at that time there are no rules and regulations. Humility, tolerance, giving honour to others is the rule, but when you see there is some problem, it is not the time for tolerance.'

Jaya 'guru-maharaja'
'O manifestation of the principle of inconceivable difference and nondifference (union in separation)! This humble servant chants your glories and worships you with joy.'

Mercy, energy come directly from the Guru. It is called power transmission:
when the power comes, more and more devotion will come to you,
and you will feel humbler and humbler.

"HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS | HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS"
