I have remembered one story that Srila Gurudev told me. The name of Srila Prabhupad's guru was Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj (his photograph is next to Srila Prabhupad's photograph).

When Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj came to Nabadwip from Vrindavan, people thought he was like a madman—nobody could recognise who he was. When people threw stones at him, he would say, "Do not be naughty with me, Gopal! I will tell Mother Yasoda!" Where did this Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj sleep? In a public toilet. Somebody asked him, "Babaji Maharaj, how can you stay here? Are you not getting the stench?" Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj replied, "This smell can be tolerated, but it is very difficult to tolerate the stench of materialists (who live by enjoying the material world)."

When Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj was alive, nobody would come and ask how he was, nobody cared—only Prabhupad would come to visit him. Srila Prabhupad also persuaded him to stay at Svananda Sukhada Kunja. However, when Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj eventually left his body, all the babajis started crying, "This is my Gurudev!", "This is my Gurudev!" They wanted to take his body, make his samadhi and earn money through that. Then, Srila Prabhupad got the news and came there with Sri Kunja Babu (later he became Srila Bhakti Vilas Tirtha Maharaj). Srila Prabhupad declared, "None of them are disciples of Babaji Maharaj! It is all lies! They all mix with women." Thre was a policemen at the place, and he asked Prabhupad, "How do you know that they mix with women?" Prabhupad explained, "I am a strict brahmachari, and nobody can tell a lie in front of me." Then, Prabhupad told the assembled babajis, "Tell me who of you have not mixed with women for six months?", then, "Who of you have not mixed with women for three months?", then, "Who of you have not mixed with women for one month?", then, "Who of you have not mixed with women for three days?" and finally, "Who of you have not mixed with women since the last night?" (Even if you think about a woman, it is also considered mixing with a woman.) One by one, everyone dispersed. So, Srila Prabhupad took Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj's body and brought it to Mayapur...
