ha ha svarupa sanatana rupa raghunatha
bhatta-yuga sri jiva ha prabhu lokanatha

"O Svarup Damodar, Sanatan, Rupa, Raghunath Das, Raghunath Bhatta, Gopal Bhatta, and Sri Jiva! O Lokanath Prabhu!"

Mahaprabhu sent Srila Sanatan Goswami and Srila Rupa Goswami to Vrindavan. Before that, Mahaprabhu went to Ramkeli in Malda to collect His associate friends. Mahaprabhu is a combined form of Radha Krishna. As you know, there are gopis, sakhis, and manjaris. Gopis are a little older, for example Mother Yasoda; sakhis are Lalita, Visakha, and others, they are about the same age as Srimati Radharani; and manjaris are nine-ten year old girls. When Radharani experiences separation, only Rupa Manjari, Lavanga Manjari, Guna Manjari, Nayana Manjari stay with Her at that time. Only manjaris know what this mood of separation is. Therefore, Mahaprabhu comes together with His associates,

শ্রীকৃষ্ণচৈতন্য প্রভু জীবে দয়া করি' ।
স্বপার্ষদ স্বীয় ধাম সহ অবতরি ॥

sri-krsna-chaitanya prabhu jive daya kari'
svaparsada sviya dhama saha avatari

"Being merciful to the souls, Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu descends with His associates and abode."

All those associates who participate in Krishna's pastimes in Dvapar-yuga, come together with Mahaprabhu to this world in this Kali-yuga.

শ্রীকৃষ্ণচৈতন্য প্রভু নিত্যানন্দ ।
শ্রীঅদ্বৈত গদাধর শ্রীবাসাদি গৌরভক্তবৃন্দ ॥

sri advaita gadadhara srivasadi gaura bhakta-vrinda

জয় রূপ সনাতন ভট্ট রঘুনাথ ।
শ্রীজীব গোপালভট্ট দাস রঘুনাথ ॥

jaya rupa sanatana bhatta raghunatha
sri-jiva gopala-bhatta dasa raghunatha

"All glory to Sri Rupa, Sanatan, Raghunath Bhatta, Sri Jiva, Gopal Bhatta, and Raghunath Das!"

And there are many others—Srila Narottam Das Thakur, Ramachandra Kaviraj, Lokanath Goswami and many others. All of them come to this world to preach about Mahaprabhu. In the case of Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Sanatan Goswami, Mahaprabhu Himself went to Ramkeli in Malda. He roamed and searched, "Where are My own? Where are My dearest associates?" In the meantime, Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Sanatan Goswami were working for a Muslim emperor Hussein Shah as chief ministers and they were known as Dabir Khas and Sakar Mallik, but Mahaprabhu rescued them. He met with them and took them to Vrindavan to preach about the Lord, yet they preached about Mahaprabhu. Srila Sanatan Goswami was first to install Mahaprabhu's Deity in Vrindavan. After that, Srila Jiva Goswami came, Srila Raghunath Das Goswami came, they preached Mahaprabhu's message in this world. It is said,

যদি গৌর না হ'ত তবে কি হইত
কেমনে ধরিতাম দে ।
রাধার মহিমা প্রেমরস-সীমা
জগতে জানাত কে ? ॥

yadi gaura na ha'ta tabe ki ha-ita
kemane dharitam de
radhara mahima, prema-rasa-sima
jagate janata ke?

"If Gaura had not come, then what would have happened? How would we have maintained our lives? Who would have revealed to the world Radha's glory and the extremes of Her ecstatic divine love?"

After Mahaprabhu left, this current flowed in a proper and pure way until Srila Narottam Das Thakur. After that, this line gradually became extinct and corrupted. At some point, people hated Vaishnav-dharma. I have been to many places and people often call holy temples "akhra" (আখড়া), which means a club or a place for musical or sports exercises (a dirty place). This line had become extinct but seeing this Jagad Guru Srila Prabhupad and Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur came to this world to revive this line. Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur was deputy magistrate in Krishnangar, and before that he worked in Puri, where he was in charge of Ratha-yatra festival and where he also got a son by the mercy of Bimala Devi (his name was at first Bimala Prasad, and after that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, he is Gurudev of our Param Gurudev). Srila Prabhupad is Nayana Manjari and Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur is Guna Manjari. They came to this world to preach about Mahaprabhu.

(tava jana krpa mage ei adhama dasa)

"O Srila Prabhupad, manifestation of Sri Gaura! Be merciful. This fallen servant prays for the mercy of your associates."

We pray for the mercy of this Srila Prabhupad. If this Prabhupad Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur had not come, this current, this line would have been lost. He came and cleared all misconceptions—there were thirteen prominent apa-sampradayas in this world at that time (aul, baul, kartabhaja, neda, darvesh, sani, sahajiya, sakhibekhi, smarta, jata gosai, ativadi, churadhari, gauranga-nagari), and now there must be thirteen thousand different conceptions. There are so many conceptions and lines now in this world, but leave all this—accept only Mahaprabhu's line, which is the line of Jagad Guru Srila Prabhupad.
