Cries of a Fallen Child His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
[His Divine Grace chants 'Sri Krishna Chaitanya doya koro more'.]
শ্রীকৃষ্ণচৈতন্য প্রভু দয়া কর মোরে
sri krsna chaitanya prabhu daya kara more "O Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu! Be merciful to me. Other than You, who is merciful in this world?"
patita-pavana-hetu tava avatara "You have descended to save the fallen souls. O Lord, You will not find another soul as fallen as I am." How can you recognise a Vaishnav? Gurudev said that you can recognise a Vaishnav by his quality. The higher a Vaishnav is, the more humility they have. Vaishnavs are always humble, they always stay in the background. Do you see what is said in this kirtan? "Mo sama patita prabhu na paibe ara." It says here, "Mahaprabhu, You have come to this world to rescue the fallen souls, but You will not find a soul as fallen as I am. I am so fallen." Do you know what foreign devotees always write in their letters? They always sign their letters "your fallen servant." I also signed my letters to Gurudev as "naradham", "patita adhama", but these things should not be just written—your behaviour should be like that. We must always feel, "I am your fallen child."
ha ha prabhu nityananda premananda sukhi "O Nityananda! You are overjoyed with divine love. Give me Your merciful glance. I am very sad." I told you this when we were in the holy dham of Nityananda Prabhu—without the mercy of Nityananda Prabhu, you cannot get mercy from Gauranga Mahaprabhu. If you get the mercy of Nityananda Prabhu, you will get Gauranga, and if you get Gauranga Mahaprabhu's mercy, you will get Radha-Krishna. "Nitaiyer karuna habe Vraje Radha Krsna pabe(নিতাইয়ের করুণা হবে ব্রজে রাধাকৃষ্ণ পাবে): when Nitai bestows His mercy, you will reach Radha-Krsna in Vraja." That is why, we pray, "O Nityananda Prabhu, please bestow Your merciful glance on me! Please look at me, give some mercy to me!" When we pray for "mercy" it means we pray for service, "Please give me the right to serve Your lotus feet. Please make me qualified for some service. Please give me an opportunity to serve You." Service is not only feeding, clothing your Guru, or massaging the Guru's feet. Even if you are far, you can serve—many devotees are very far, but they arrange for some funds for this parikrama. They are staying so far, but they are serving from far. I can give give you one example. There is one small boy of perhaps thirteen-fourteen years old, he every day saves a little money from his pocket money—he saves, saves, and then sends it to me (he called me just today and said, "Maharaj, it is Sunday today, I will send it tomorrow.") He saves little by little in this way and has accumulated ninety thousand rupees in one year! And that is coming from just a small boy! He gets some money for ice-cream, chocolates, etc., but he saves that money for his Gurudev thinking, "I will go for Nabadwip Dham parikrama and give it to my Guru." He could not come this year, so he said he would send it tomorrow. This is what service mood is. There are such devotees among Bengali devotees too. Some devotees here also do a lot of collection. I told that foreign devotees cannot come, and many devotees did collections here, going and begging door to door every day. I also sent Sripad Niriha Maharaj and Ashok Prabhu to go house to house. They returned late at night yesterday—I was waiting for them, and when they came I saw they had brought much rice, dal, potato, some money, etc. I cannot go to all houses and programmes myself, I had to cancel some programmes also, but devotees went to many houses and did all that collection. Somebody gave dal, somebody gave sugar, oil, etc.—they give whatever they can, according to their capacity. Everybody helped this Nabadwip Dham parikrama in this way. I give everyone an opportunity to serve. Everybody can come and serve. You know that when Gurudev gives second initiation he sends everyone to beg to teach them how to do that, and Gurudev told me to go outside for collection after I got initiation. Since then I have been going on collection all the time. This time when I went for potato collection, sometimes I went to 130-140 houses a day! I did not even struggle or feel any austerity in doing it. I would go out in the morning, collect, take prasad in the afternoon, rest for one hour, and then again go out at four o'clock and do collection till late evening. In this way, we collected six hundred bags of potato. In this way, I give everyone an opportunity to serve, and those who have some fortune serve, and those who have no fortune do not get such a chance. Therefore, we pray here, "O Nityananda Prabhu, please bestow Your merciful glance on me! Please give some mercy to me, please look at me! I am very sad (ami bara duhkhi), there is no one sadder than me in this world, why? Because I have not been able to get the Lord's mercy! I could not get the Lord's mercy!"
daya kara sita-pati advaita gosani "O Advaita Gosai, Lord of Sita Thakurani! Be merciful to me. By Your mercy, I will reach Sri Chaitanya and Nitai." Sri Advaita Prabhu is one of Pancha-tattva: Sri Krishna Chaitanya, Prabhu Nityananda, Sri Advaita, Gadadhar, Srivasadi Gaura-bhakta-vrinda. If Advaita Prabhu had not come to this world, how would we have got Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu? It was Sri Advaita Prabhu who brought Mahaprabhu to this world. Mahaprabhu Himself said, "I was sleeping, but then My sleep was broken by the cries of My caller." Mahaprabhu called Advaita Prabhu 'nera' (caller—he who calls and invites). The Lord resides in Goloka-dham, and Sri Advaita Prabhu brought Him from Goloka to this world, "My Lord, You must come now. This world has become void of religion." It is said in Srimad Bhagavad-gita,
যদা যদা হি ধর্ম্মস্য গ্লানির্ভবতি ভারত ।
yada yada hi dharmasya, glanir bhavati bharata "O Bharata, whenever there is a decline of religion and an uprising of irreligion, I personally make My advent." (Srimad Bhagavad-gita, 4.7) When irreligion become prominent in the world, the Lord makes His advent. This happens in every age—the Lord came in Satya-yuga, Treta-yuga, Dvapar-yuga, and He came in Kali-yuga too. Srimad Bhagavatam contains the proof that Gauranga Mahaprabhu is the Lord Himself.
কৃষ্ণবর্ণং ত্বিষাঽকৃষ্ণং সাঙ্গোপাঙ্গাস্ত্রপার্ষদম্ ।
krsna-varnam tvisakrsnam "Those of sharp intellect will worship Krishna who appears with a non-black bodily hue, who is armed and surrounded by His associates and servants, and who always chants the Holy Names." (Srimad Bhagavatam, 11.5.32) Mahaprabhu came to this world 536 years ago, but Bhagavatam existed long before that. Yet Sukadev Goswami says in this Bhagavatam that Krishna, the Supreme Lord, comes in Kali-yuga with His associates, and what are His weapons in this age? His devotees. Lord Ramachandra killed, Krishna killed, but in this age the Lord only gives Krishna-prema (transcendental love for the Lord). Gauranga Mahaprabhu comes in this Kali-yuga as a combined form of Radha and Krishna. We sing in one of the kirtans,
যদি গৌর না হ'ত তবে কি হইত
yadi gaura na ha'ta tabe ki ha-ita "If Gaura had not come, then what would have happened? How would we have maintained our lives? Who would have revealed to the world Radha's glory and the extremes of Her ecstatic divine love?" (Srila Vasudev Ghosh Thakur) Even Srimad Bhagavatam does not mention Radharani's Name—this is such a high conception that Sukadev Goswami, Vyasadev did not want to pronounce Her name! They thought, "We have no right, no qualification to utter Her name!" That is why they never mentioned Her name in Srimad Bhagavatam. But Sri Vasudev Ghosh writes that Mahaprabhu comes to tell the whole world about Srimati Radharani. Gauranga Mahaprabhu is a combined form of Radha and Krishna—Krishna steals heart and halo of Srimati Radharani and comes to this world as Gauranga Mahaprabhu. Coming to this world, what does Mahaprabhu tell everyone? "Krsna bolo, sange chala, ei matra bhiksa chai. I am begging you only for one thing: come with us and chant 'Krishna'!"
জীব জাগ, জীব জাগ, গোরাচাঁদ বলে ।
jiva jaga, jiva jaga, gorachanda bale Sri Gorachand says, "O souls, awake! O souls, awake! How much longer will you sleep in the lap of the witch Maya?" Stop sleeping! Wake up! Worship Krishna! You have no time! Yet we keep on sleeping... We pray, "Give me Krishna-prema" but we have no attachment, no real hankering for that...
daya kara sita-pati advaita gosani "O Advaita Gosai, Lord of Sita Thakurani! Be merciful to me. By Your mercy, I will reach Sri Chaitanya and Nitai."
gaura-premamaya-tanu pandit gadadhara "O Gadadhar Pandit, embodiment of love for Sri Gaura! O oceans of mercy, Srivas Pandit and Hari Das Thakur!"
ha ha svarupa sanatana rupa raghunatha "O Svarup Damodar, Sanatan, Rupa, Raghunath Das, Raghunath Bhatta, Gopal Bhatta, and Sri Jiva! O Lokanath Prabhu!"
daya kara sri-acharya prabhu srinivasa "O Srinivas Acharya Prabhu! Be merciful! Narottam Das prays for the association of Ramachandra Kaviraj."
(daya kara prabhupada sri-gaura-prakasa) "O Srila Prabhupad, manifestation of Sri Gaura! Be merciful. This fallen servant prays for the mercy of your associates."
