"The dumb can speak, the lame can climb a hill—all it takes is mercy from Gurudev."

(Bhavartha Dipika)

First of all, I am offering my full obeisance at the holy lotus feet of Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, begging him for his causeless mercy, after that I am offering my obeisance to all Guru-varga, to all my God-brothers and sisters, to all the listeners, to all the motherly lady devotees, to all devotees, and I am praying to you all for your mercy to this low soul.

So, we have been to the parikrama of Koladwip today and this place here where we are staying is called Godrumdwip. There are nine island in Nabadwip, and the island where we are now is called Godrumdwip, this is an abode of kirtan. I will tell you about all the other places as we go there, but today I would like to speak about the place where we are staying, namely Deva Palli, or Nrisingha Palli. When Lord Nrisinghadev came to this world to protect Prahlad Maharaj and defeated Hiranyakasipu in Ahobilam (South India), He came here to take some rest. Why did He sit in this place? Because He knew that Gauranga Mahaprabhu would appear later in this Nabadwip Dham. So, today we will speak and hear about Prahlad Maharaj, Hiranyakasipu, and Lord Nrisinghadev.

Offering my full obeisance at the holy lotus feet of Bhakta-Raj Prahlad Maharaj and praying for the mercy of Lord Nrisinghadev, Nitai Gaura, and Sri Gurupadpadma, I will try to say something. You can find this narrative in Srimad Bhagavatam, and I will tell it to you now in a little shorter way based on what I have heard from the holy lotus mouth of my Gurudev and holy Vaishnavs.

There are two gatekeepers in Vaikuntha named Jay and Vijay. They were the gatekeepers of the Lord. One day, the four sons of Lord Brahma came to the gate stark naked. Because Jay and Vijay could not recognise them, they made a mistake. Ultimately, everything happens by the will of the Lord—no pastime can be possible without the wish of the Lord.

I have heard once at a class on Srimad Bhagavatam and was thinking about this—somebody asks, "It is said in Srimad Bhagavad-gita that the Lord protects only His devotees and keeps the non-devotees far away from Himself, which means that the Lord is partial. Then how is it that the Lord is considered impartial? Where is His impartiality?" The Lord is equal to everyone, but when the Lord's devotees try to worship and serve the Lord, the Lord cannot ignore or dismiss them, whereas demons become destroyed. The main thing is that devotees worship the Lord. So, yes, the Lord is impartial, He makes everyone suffer or enjoy according to their karma. But we can see the example of Prahlad Maharaj (how many obstacles, how many dangerous situations he encountered!)—when you come to practise Krishna consciousness, you will face so many dangerous situations, so many obstacles and difficulties, but if you tolerate all these difficulties and austerities and can continue practising Krishna consciousness properly, then you will be successful, you will get the supreme benefit. This is the main thing.
