Everybody is giving money, everybody is giving help, but there are only few persons who give their son or daughter to serve the Mission full-time. It is very rare all over the world. Here in India also, people have much hope that their son would become adult, get married, and produce babies. Every father and mother want that, but rare are the devotees who would want their children to serve the Lord instead. For example, Srila Narottam Das Thakur's mother gave her son money to go to Vrindavan. Srila Narottam Das Thakur cried to his mom, "Mother, if you do not let me go to Vrindavan, I will commit suicide! I will die!" She allowed him to leave and not only that—she also gave him some money to go to Vrindavan. This is very rare. Sri Vishnupriya Devi and Sri Sachi Mata also sacrificed so much in their lives—if Sri Vishnupriya Devi had not made this sacrifice, we would not have got Nimai as a sannyasi, as a preacher...

If I cannot keep devotees well, it is a big problem for me—it always gives me much pain. One by one, devotees—some of my godbrothers, some of my friends—are passing away. It is very sad. One by one devotees are now attacked by covid...

Question: With all the recent tragedies happening, with Kali-yuga advancing, I was thinking how to continue my sadhana—no matter how much I try, it is still so difficult...

Yes, it is correct. Sadhana is very difficult. But we must try our best. Keep trying and trying. This is a battlefield. We will not run away from the battlefield—we will always stand and fight against Maya. In every situation and under any condition, Maya Devi always takes the jiva soul to her side—Maya Devi is extremely powerful because she has got her power from the Lord. You know this.

দৈবী হ্যেষা গুণময়ী মম মায়া দুরত্যয়া ।
মামেব যে প্রপদ্যন্তে মায়ামেতাং তরন্তি তে ॥

daivi hy esa gunamayi, mama maya duratyaya
mam eva ye prapadyante, mayam etam taranti te

"My alluring, 'trimodal,' illusory potency is practically insurmountable. However, those who take shelter in Me can overcome this powerful obstacle."

(Srimad Bhagavad-gita, 7.14)

Because Maya Devi has got her power from the Lord, she is very powerful. That is why, if devotees always stay together, if there is sankirtan going on, if there is practising and sadhana going on, then Maya Devi cannot stay here. This is our main hope. In our present situation, we must practise more and more. I have told you—you can send me the photographs of your practising, I am happy to see them. I want to keep myself busy with seeing that, I will also try to compose one more book, Guidance 5. I want to keep myself busy with this kind of service because due to the pandemic situation we cannot go for preaching so much, the government is being strict about it now. So, it is better for everyone to keep yourself busy with service. Please you all take care of yourself. In this situation, everybody should practise on their own, do not be disheartened. You worry because of this pandemic situation, "If I do not work, what will I eat? How will I maintain my family?" I know it is very difficult for the devotees now, our devotees are mostly not very rich people, they have to depend upon their own work all the time, for that they are a little anxious now, but at such times as now you must think about Srivas Pandit. Srivas Pandit had nothing, but Mahaprabhu told him not to go begging, and Srivas Pandit listened to His instruction and did not go begging—after that, Krishna Himself took care of him. The Lord takes care of His devotees. This is always true. You can see Mahabharata, you can see the Kuruksetra war, you can see Ramayana (when Ramachandra fought against Ravana)—you can see everywhere that finally demons are always defeated by the sadhu. Om is always at the side of a sadhu. That is our faith, that is our hope.
