Preaching: Our Duty and Very Life

I am very happy to see you all today. You make programmes every day, distributing Gurudev's message, Mahaprabhu's message to the devotees in Italy, that is my happiness. Gurudev distributed Mahaprabhu's message and you are now distributing it there at Villa Govinda and other local areas. It makes me very happy. You are making Gurudev happy. Through that, you yourself are getting benefit and you are giving benefit to the devotees, to the jiva souls. That is our duty.

You are staying in Italy and it is our great fortune that our preaching movement is continuously going on properly all over the world. For example, I spoke to the devotees in Canada this morning—Gurudev made small preaching centres and temples all over the world in many countries, and each of them are Gurudev's heart.

It is like Gurudev made a pond and we are all little fish in that pond. If fish does not get oxygen in the pond, the fish will die. Gurudev gives oxygen to all of us, and the devotees are now distributing it, otherwise devotees will not be alive. A devotee's life is preaching—chanting the Holy Name, sravanam, kirtanam. "Sravanam, kirtanam, smaranam, vandanam, dasyam, sakhyam, atma-nivedanam (hearing, chanting, remembering, offering obeisance, engaging in service as a servitor, as a friend, and self-submission)." Without preaching devotee cannot stay alive, they cannot live.

Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj says that if you have money but you do not donate or distribute it, it will be an offence. In the same way, if you have some knowledge and you do not distribute that knowledge, it will also be fault, an offence. So, if you have some capacity for preaching but you do not preach, it is also bad. You are there in Villa Govinda in Italy (this is our main centre in Italy), and you are distributing and maintaining your family life as Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math family, you have the guidance of Munindra Mohan Prabhu and Krishna Kanta Didi. You are following Gurudev's line, Srila Sridhar Maharaj's line, Rupa Goswami's line, and you are preaching through this line—that is your Krishna consciousness, that is your spiritual life.
