Sri Lalita Devi: Our Service Line

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Speaking online to the devotees in Ukraine
20 September 2015

Today is Sri Lalita Saptami, and tomorrow is Sri Radhastami...

If you do not worship Lalita Devi properly, if you do not serve Lalita Devi, you will not get mercy from Srimati Radharani; if you do not serve Srimati Radharani properly (Srimati Radharani is nondifferent from the Guru, so it means if you do not serve our Gurudev, Guru Maharaj properly), you will not get mercy from the Lord.

Visvanath Chakravarti Thakur wrote this sloka, we sing it every morning,

saksadd-haritvena samasta-sastrair
uktas tatha bhavyata eva sadbhih
kintu prabhor yah priya eva tasya
vande guroh sri-charanaravindam

"I offer my obeisance unto the lotus feet of Sri Guru, who is said by all the scriptures to be the Lord Himself, and considered to be so by the sadhus, yet is also the Lord's beloved devotee."

(Sri Sri Gurvastakam, 7)

Gurudev is saksad Srimati Radharani. Gurudev is saksad Krishna, but he is not acting as the Lord, he is acting as the main servitor of Lord Krishna. Who is the main servitor of Lord Krishna? Srimati Radharani. So, on the one hand Gurudev is nondifferent from Krishna, and on the other hand he is actually not acting in this world as Krishna, he is acting as the main servitor of Krishna, that is Srimati Radharani.

We always sing,

রাধা-ভজনে যদি মতি নাহি ভেলা ।
কৃষ্ণ-ভজন তব অকারণ গেলা ॥

radha-bhajane yadi mati nahi bhela
krsna-bhajana tava akarana gela

"If you do not worship Srimati Radharani, your worship of Krishna is nothing."

If you worship only Krishna, Krishna will not take your worship, will not accept your service because you do not worship Srimati Radharani, Sriman Gurudev. You cannot serve Krishna directly without Srimati Radharani, that is why we serve Krishna along with Srimati Radharani and we are trying to worship properly, we are making a festival for Srimati Radharani and observe this day in this way.

Gurudev said that when you go to Vrindavan and Govardhan parikrama, you must go to Unchagaon before Varsana. Unchagaon means the birthplace of Srimati Lalita Devi, it is near Varsana where Radharani stays. That is why every year when we go to do this parikrama we go to Unchagaon, the birthplace of Srimati Lalita Devi.

How much Lalita Devi serves Srimati Radharani! Lalita Devi always dresses Srimati Radharani, always washes Her clothes. She dresses Srimati Radharani, decorates Her, she puts ornaments on Her, and so on—she does everything for Srimati Radharani. One time, Radharani began to sweat a lot, and Lalita Devi could not tolerate it—she cannot tolerate one drop of water on Her forehead!

This is the way of your service life, and this is the line that must be accepted—if we can accept this line, then we will get the real path, we will be able to understand clearly what is necessary for our spiritual life. If you always think, "How shall I serve my Guru? How can I make my Guru happy?" then you can easily understand everything.

'When you say 'Haribol', 'Haribol' comes to their ears—this is what kindness to others is.'

'I eternally desire to take the form of a bee, easily attain a place at Krishna's lotus feet, and sing His glories. I will never serve anyone else.'

You should have same feelings for your Guru, for the Vaishnavs, and Bhagavan,
as you have for your own self.
