Today is the adhivas day of Krishna's Janmastami and today we are speaking about some balya lila of Krishna (Krishna's childhood pastimes). Tomorrow we can speak about Krishna's birth day.

You know that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and He is so powerful—when He was only three days old, He killed Putana raksasi. Kamsa sent her to kill Krishna, but Krishna killed her and He was only three days old at that time!

All Krishna's friends (Sridam, Subal, and others) always told their mothers, "Today Krishna did this!" "Today Krishna killed this demon!" "Today Krishna killed that demon!" "Today this has happened!" "Today that has happened!" and their mothers said, "You always speak about Krishna and His heroic deed, then you can tell Him that He must show something to us too!" All gopis, all mothers also wanted to see some of Krishna's lila. And Krishna showed it to them. What lila was it? It was Kaliya-daman-lila. At that time, all gopis, all Vraja basis came to see that Kaliya-daman-lila.

Nanda Maharaj had 900,000 (nine lakhs) cows, and one time Kamsa, knowing that Krishna loved cows very much, sent a demon (asura) in disguise of a calf. The demon's name was Batsasura. That Batsasura calf always came close to see Krishna, always kept close to Him, and Krishna understood what was happening, He knew who that calf was, so He quickly killed the calf.

Srimati Radharani and all Her associates, the gopis, said, "Krishna has killed a cow! He is a great sinner, we will not mix with Him! We will not go anywhere with Him now." Krishna was puzzled, "What to do now?" Then Radharani and gopis said, "But if Krishna goes to every single holy place (Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, and all others) and bathes there, then all His sin will be removed."

Thinking what to do, Krishna called a big meeting with His associates, Sridam, Subal and others. Then, Krishna made a pond (kunda) with His flute and called the kunda Shyama Kunda. He asked Radharani, "What if I bring all the holy places like Ganga, Yamuna and others here, in one place?" Radharani said, "Yes, it will be OK. If you bring all the twelve holy places [Salt Ocean, Milk Ocean, Amara-dirghika, Sona, Sindhu, Tamraparni, Puskara, Saraswati, Godavari, Yamuna, Reva, Prayag] into your pond and bathe there, then all Your sins will go away."

Krishna called all the holy places, but the gopis did not believe Him, so Krishna called every place out one by one,

"Ganga Devi?"

"Yes, I am present."

"Yamuna Devi?"

"Yes, I am present."

"Saraswati Devi?"

"Yes, I am present."

And so on. Everybody was present. The gopis believed it, and Krishna bathed in the pond. Then, Radharani made another plan. She said, "Since You have bathed in this kunda we will not bathe there because all sin went into this kunda! We will not go there." Saying this, Radharani made another kunda with Her bangles.

You know that Krishna is always under His devotees, He is always surrendered to the gopis, and they cannot live separately. So, Krishna said to Radharani, "OK, so Your kunda is better, and My kunda is all poison, but if we mix some of the water from Your kunda into My kunda, then the kunda will be purified!" They mixed some of the water from Radharani's pond into Krishna's pond, and to this day these two kundas are mixed—it is Radha Kunda and Shyama Kunda...

Krishna always says, "Those who say they are My devotees, are not My devotees. But those who are devotees of My devotees, are My devotees." Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur sings,

রাধা-ভজনে যদি মতি নাহি ভেলা ।
কৃষ্ণ-ভজন তব অকারণ গেলা ॥

radha-bhajane yadi mati nahi bhela
krsna-bhajana tava akarana gela

It means that if you do not worship Radharani but worship Krishna, there will be no result. To get Krishna we must worship devotees, worship Radharani and Her associates. When we go for the Vrindavan parikrama, we first go to Lalita's birthplace, then Radharani's birthplace, then only to Krishna's place. This is how we do the parikrama—we do not go to Krishna's place first—we serve devotees. We can get Krishna's mercy only through devotees.

Why in this Kali-yuga do we worship Mahaprabhu? Mahaprabhu is Radha-Krishna's combined form, and we worship those who are now spreading Krishna consciousness, Mahaprabhu's conception, all over the world—Srila Swami Maharaj, Param Guru Maharaj, our Gurudev. We always worship them because they are spreading Krishna consciousness all over the world, and we have got a real connection with that Krishna consciousness through them, through our Guru, that is why we always first take shelter of our Guru's lotus feet because otherwise, without this shelter, we cannot get any connection with this line.

"Radha-kunda tata kunja kutira..." Krishna Himself actually says, "I Myself am not dear to Myself—Radha Kunda is more dear to Me than even I Myself. Radha Kunda is more dear to Me than even Radharani!"

One can serve in the householder life too: you work, your wife cooks, you offer the bhog. After she has taken prasad, you take her prasad. You will also address each other as 'Prabhu' and 'Didi'.
