His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Speaking to devotees in Salt Lake City, USA
16 October 2011, part 3

Question: What can we do to serve you and the Mission in Nabadwip?

Prabhu, it is not a problem. I do not want anything from you, not money, not anything else—only follow Gurudev's instruction. If you preach there, if you make more Gurudev's devotees there, that will give me more happiness. I will be happier if our society grows, if some good devotees come and glorify Gurudev. I want to hear my Gurudev's glorification from the devotees. That is my happiness. If somebody serves in this way, I am very happy.

You can sing kirtans well, so you can go to some houses from time to time, you can sing a kirtan and people will be benefitted through hearing kirtan. You can sing such songs as "Kabe habe bolo se dina amar," "Emona durmati samsara bhitare padiya achhinu ami," "Nitai pada kamala koti chandra susitala," "Gaurangera duti pada yara dhana sampada." Sing these specific kinds of songs. Also, when your mind is bad (when you are in a bad mood), when so much disturbance comes to you, you should sing "Emona durmati samsara bhitare padiya achhinu ami" and "Kabe habe bolo se dina amar."

kabe navadvipe, suradhuni-tate,
'gaura-nityananda' bali' niskapate
nachiya gaiya, bedaiba chhute,
vatulera praya chhadiya vichara

"When will I wander along the banks of the Ganges in Nabadwip, sincerely calling out, 'Gaura-Nityananda!', while dancing, singing, and running about, without any thinking as though mad?"

কবে হবে বল, সে দিন আমার ।
(আমার) অপরাধ ঘুচি' শুদ্ধ নামে রুচি
কৃপা-বলে হবে হৃদয়ে সঞ্চার ॥

kabe ha'be bala se dina amara
(amara) aparadha ghuchi', suddha name ruchi,
krpa-bale ha'be hrdaye sanchara

"Please tell me, when will that day be mine when my offences will be dispelled and taste for the pure Name will be infused within my heart by the power of mercy?"

"My mind is always attacked by the illusory environment! Prabhu, when will You give some mercy to me? When will You show compassion towards me, Prabhu? When will that day come when I can chant Your Name, when I can glorify Your Name?"—that kind of feeling must come to your mind. You must feel it devotionally, with your heart and soul, not just showing—it is not necessary to show anything, it is necessary to feel it only in your heart and soul. You can show it through love and affection—keep devotees in your heart and devotees should keep you in their hearts.

Gurudev always said, "Be humble, tolerant, give honour to others." You have that kind of qualification, I have seen your humility and I am very happy with it. I am not as humble as you are and I am learning from your humility. This is your main qualification and if you use that qualification for preaching, if you use that humility to preach to others, it can become an example for others.

I am very happy with your family, you have a good wife, and a good daughter and a good son came. Teach them well. It is not necessary to make them big doctors, big engineers, big computer engineers—if they can become good big devotees, Gurudev's servants, that is sufficient for you. When Gurudev was seventeen years old, he wrote a very beautiful poem. Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj praised Gurudev so much for that poem and was so happy with it. There are many poems written by Gurudev, they were published as a book in Bengali...

You can print some small pamphlets, leaflets. Preach. Go once a week outside with sankirtan, your daughter and your son can give the leaflets to people—they (people) will be happy. You know that I use five-six-year-old boys and girls for the Venezuelan people—these five-year-old, six-year-old girls and boys distribute pamphlets during sankirtan. I saw once a sixty-year-old man was asking a six-year-old girl some questions and the six-year-old girl was giving him answers—I watched it and listened to that girl's answers and I was very happy. When I went for preaching with them, I was watching their preaching movement. So, preach to your children, give them some lecture, and you can make them preachers.

It is not necessary to think about money. Prabhu, money will come one day, it is not necessary to run behind money—you must run behind Krishna, behind Mahaprabhu, and Krishna will look after you. If you think about Krishna, Krishna will maintain His family. If Krishna wants a laddu, He will arrange for the money to buy that laddu.

How to See the Guru:
Mercy
Clear guidance on how to understand who the Guru is, and how a sincere disciple should see the Guru: the Guru is not only a mahabhagavata, he is nondifferent from Krishna Himself.

Krsna haite chatur-mukha
'By Krsna's association, Brahma became devoted to Krsna's service. By Brahma's association, Narad Muni became devoted. After Narad came Krsna Dvaipayan Vedavyas. Purnaprajna Madhva Acharya declared he was Vyasa's servant. He was Padmanabha Tirtha's Guru.'
কৃষ্ণ হৈতে চতুর্ম্মুখ

If you give food to your mind, it will become strong and it can
take you away from the service.
