Preaching Tactics

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
1 October 2013

When Mahaprabhu preached, He converted the biggest men—King Prataparudra, Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, Prakasananda Saraswati, Ramachandra Khan, King Mansingh, and many other big-big Muslim leaders.

Two kinds of preaching are necessary—on the one hand preaching to the big fallen souls (like Jagai and Madhai—who will save them?), and on the other hand, to the big famous men who control others. For example, the city people control the village people—the village people listen to what the city people say, they think that whatever city people say it is correct. Is it not? This is how Mahaprabhu preached. Think about it.

Do you know the story of Alexander the Great? He conquered so many lands and kingdoms, but what happened to him in the end? When he was going to die, he called the greatest, biggest doctors from all over the world, and ordered to them, "When I die, you must keep me in the coffin naked and show that my hands are empty." What for? He wanted to show everyone in the world: "You are big-big doctors, but you have no power to keep my soul in this body, you have no power to save me." He conquered all kingdoms, but this is what he did at the end of his life. A very good story.

Buddhist, Christians say that cows have no jiva soul, trees have no jiva souls. Even the scientists do not say this is so, but the Buddhists and Christians say this... This is the condition on this planet...

Sri Gurudev's Protection
An extensive story that illustrates the extent to which a Guru goes to protect his surrendered disciple: 'If a servant somehow falls down and goes to some other place, glorious is the master who grabs him and brings him back by his hair.'

Durlabha manava-janma
'Alas! I never considered that all of these things are temporary. When my soul departs, where will all these opulences remain?'

What did Gurudev keep us here for? He kept us here only to protect his temple,
to preach—for his mission.
