Question: How can we fail in our chastity to our Guru? How can this happen?

It can happen if you do not practise properly. Without practice you can face failure—a disease will come to you—because you have so much kanak, kamini, pratistha (desire for wealth, companions, name and fame), so many bad desires. Just as your money can be stolen by dacoits—"dacoits" means kama (lust), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), moha (delusion), mada (madness), matsarya (envy), kanak, kamini, pratistha—they can steal your devotion. This is how you can easily fall down.

Do you have any other questions?

Question: How can we use common sense in the service to Guru?

It is easy. You are not independent. You are only an instrument, you depend only on your Guru—when Gurudev gives you an order to do something, that is your service and you must follow only that. When you connect with the centre and practise properly—if you are sincere and have chastity—you can easily understand whether your Guru is happy or not.

Question: We often think that we are doing things properly, but then the result shows that we are actually not. Why does this happen?

You have a senior devotee, you can ask them whether what you are doing is right or not. Sometimes we must remember also that to err is human—there is always something wrong and some correction is necessary.

Sometimes you wonder whether what you are doing is good or whether it is done properly, but the main thing is that you must follow the instruction of your Guru. You get some idea from your Guru, from great Vaishnavs, senior Vaishnavs, and if you follow that instruction, that is sufficient for you. You do not have to think about anything else. What you are thinking is actually not correct. You are thinking about the result, but this is not right. You must only do your service, the result will come on its own and in its own time. Why do you think the result must come immediately? What do you think about the result for? Do not think about the result—just always do the service for your Guru. That is your visa.

I have told it many times that when you get initiation, that is your passport, and when you have service, that is your visa. You have already got the passport, and if you do your service properly, you have your visa. Sometimes in the course of service you may do something wrong, it can happen, but Krishna does not take offence of those who are surrendered souls (saranagata).

Question: Maharaj, do you know that we are not making programmes in the temple here in Paipa? We are making programmes in the houses of different devotees.

Yes, I know it. It is good, very nice. That is devotion. Making programmes in many different houses means nama-hatta—one day one house, another day another house. That is very good.
