Delay No More His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Many people are waiting for me downstairs. I started giving the class at seven o'clock in the evening and have been speaking for more than three hours now. I only came upstairs to meet with you and tell you something about the Lord. It is necessary for us to know how to practise, how to make Krishna happy. Actually, what can we give Him? We must give everything to Him—we must give our own self to Krishna. Before, when we did not know, when we did not have good association, we always followed our mind, but now we understand something and we must not follow our mind. We have got a bona fide Guru, we have got his good advice, and that is what we will follow. It is necessary to have such surrender. You have heard about Bali Maharaj and Vamandev. Vamandev asked Bali Maharaj for three footsteps of land, but after Vamandev made two of the three steps and covered the whole universe, Bali Maharaj did not know what more he could give. His wife, Vindhyavali, said to him, "You have given everything, but you have forgotten that you have not given yourself to the Lord." We must realise, "How can I serve Krishna? How can I get His mercy?"

krsna yadi chhute bhakte bhukti mukti diya "If you ask Me for anything except devotion, I can give you those things—bhukti, mukti, liberation, anything you want—but I will hide devotion from you. You will not get devotion." Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.18 We think that the Deity is only a doll, just some stone, wood, or marble, but that is our main offence. We are always very busy working outside, earning so much money, but a poor man also works every day—he also gets some money and puts something aside in case he is sick and needs to see a doctor and get medicine, etc. We are using our time, but we do not know what our problem is. If you do not know what the problem is, how can you solve the problem? We must understand that the only thing that is sure in this world is death. So, we must think what is necessary for our spiritual life. We took initiation many years ago, but if you only take initiation and do not do proper service to the Guru, how will you get mercy from Krishna? Mercy comes from dasanudas, from the servants of the servant. "Krsna-nitya-dasa, taha bhuli' gela." (Cc, 2.22.24) Krishna created this illusory environment, and being in this illusory environment we have forgotten everything. We are asking for mercy but in lieu of that we are asking "dhanam dehi, vidhyam dehi, rupam dehi" (give me money, give me knowledge, give me a beautiful body). It is said in Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita:
কৃষ্ণ যদি ছুটে ভক্তে ভুক্তি মুক্তি দিয়া ।
krsna yadi chhute bhakte bhukti mukti diya Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.18 "If you have some material desire, and ask for that material enjoyment in lieu of devotion, Krishna will give it to you—He will make you happy, but He will hide devotion from you." We must understand what is necessary for our spiritual practising life, we must understand that we are not practising Krishna consciousness properly. We are conditioned souls, we have got a family in this birth, we enjoyed it also in the past and will get it in the next birth too, but what is the difference between birds, animals, and our life? What have we got this human body for? You are so happy you have an air-conditioned room, but you cannot sleep properly—you do not get as much happiness in your air-conditioned room as a street dog gets sleeping in the street. A pig is very happy eating stool, but you are taking paneer and all the opulent prasad, but still you are not happy, no matter how much you eat. Why is it so? Because we are not taking prasadam, because we do not surrender properly. You must surrender properly and understand what our service line is, what is necessary for us. We must not follow our minds because now we have a bona fide Guru and we are his servants—we will follow the order from above. We have come here, we took initiation from the Guru to serve him, not to use him for our own service. Our duty is to always serve the Guru. If you want to be a guru, you must first be a proper disciple. A proper disciple always follows their Guru's instruction—when the order comes from their Guru, a proper disciple will follow that order 100% and not think about anything else. Such 100% faith should come. If you can be like this, you will be successful in your spiritual life.
