"Do not trouble others for your own upkeep, and forget your own happiness in the course of helping others."

(Gitavali, Sri Siksastaka, 3.2-4, by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur)

Be humble, tolerant, and give honour to others; leave your ego and do not be jealous of devotees or others' things. You must leave the jealous mood (matsaryata) because Krishna did not give any place for it.

Leaving ego and envy, always serve with the strongest faith, with patience, remembering your Guru. Wherever you are staying, practise Krishna consciousness life, then one day you can eventually reach your real home. This is my message. It is necessary to have the strongest faith and to serve your Guru with the strongest faith, then you will get the best result in your spiritual life. I am sure about that.

So much patience and so much tolerance is necessary... If you look at me—if you see how much problem is coming to me all over the world and how much I am tolerating—then you can understand it... Gurudev said, "No one can understand how much I am tolerating." Now I feel that to be the Guru, to be the Acharya, you should have so much tolerance...

Actually, it is not necessary to be a big Guru—it is not necessary to be a big man. If you are a little man, that is OK for you. You must be happy with whatever position you have got. Krishna always tests us, always examines us. Our position is that we are a little soul, and we should be happy with that.

Devotees need mercy from the Guru, and the Guru also needs mercy from the devotees: that is why Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur would tell his disciples, "Daso 'smi, I am your servant."

Squandering Your Fortune
'If you want to have some business, you need capital, but if every day you lose your capital, you will end up bankrupt. Because you have some previous sukriti you are now staying in the temple, but if every day you lose that sukriti, one day your balance will become zero.'

Ki-rupe paiba seva
'I am so wicked, how will I ever get service? I do not have any attachment to Sri Guru and Vaishnavs!'
কিরূপে পাইব সেবা

Have we become a Vaishnav or do we only wear the dress of a Vaishnav? Do we practise
properly or do we pretend and show false renunciation? We must ask ourselves.
