What is the religion of Kali-yuga? In Satya-yuga people did meditation, their lifetime was 100,000 years. In Treta-yuga, the lifetime was 10,000 years and they did fire sacrifice. In Dvapar-yuga, the lifetime was 1,000 years and they did archan, puja. In Kali-yuga, people are given only 120 years of life—it is a very short time!

We are not as fortunate as Pariksit Maharaj. Pariksit Maharaj too had a very short time, but he was very fortunate because he got a seven-day notice, "In seven days you will have to leave everything—you will have to leave your body and your kingdom."

Khatvanga Maharaj got a forty-eight-minute notice. Once, the demons and the demigods were fighting. After the demigods won the battle, they told Khatvanga Maharaj,

"Maharaj, by your mercy we have got the heaven. Tell us what you want—we can give you a place in heaven, you can stay there."

"OK, I will tell you later, first you tell me: how many days do I have left to live?"

"You have only one moment (one muhurta, or forty-eight minutes) to live: you will have to leave your body in forty-eight minutes."

"Oh! Then I do not want to waste my time! I want to keep my mind, body—everything!—at the lotus feet of Lord Krishna."

How many days will we be alive in this world? We do not know it. So, Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur sings,

এখনও চেতন পেয়ে, রাধামাধব-নাম বল রে ।

ekhana-o chetana peye, radha-madhav-nama bala re

Now that you have a human life and consciousness, chant, "Radha-Madhava"!
