"Marabi rakhabi, yo ichchha tohara (মারবি রাখবি—যো ইচ্ছা তোহার): You can kill me, You can keep me, You can protect me, that is Your matter, it is up to You." (Saranagati, 1.11)

You heard that a few months ago there was an earthquake in Katmandu, Nepal, and so many thousands of people died. They were very tired of rescuing people—they took out so many bodies from the collapsed buildings, many hospitals were full, even here in India the hospitals in Siliguri, in Bihar were full. Hundreds of people were delivered there and finally the government said, "We are very tired. Seven days have passed and people are dead, we must take care of those who are in hospital now." They did not look for more bodies in the ruins, but when twenty-one days later they again started removing the buildings' ruins, they found a one- or two-year-old baby inside—alive!

In Bangladesh also, an eleven-storey building collapsed and after twenty-four days they found a nineteen-year-old girl (she worked at that factory). It is an eleven-storey building, you can imagine how high it is, but that girl was alive.

I can say even more. I remember one year A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj's granddaughter was staying in Mayapur and building a house there. That year Mayapur was flooded. There are so many small temples, and when the flood came suddenly, they stayed without food—they had money to buy food, but they cannot eat money, they have to buy something. I knew they did not have any food, so I took some rice, dal, potato and distributed to each temple. One day, at the Bhaktivinod Institute near Yogapith three people were going in a boat and suddenly a strong current came and everyone died—the boatman, the lady, and her husband all died; but their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter somehow caught some straw floating on the river. Later in the evening, people heard a child's crying and they wondered where the crying was coming from. Somebody went to look and found that child. Everybody died, but she was alive. Can you believe it?

Krishna exists, and sometimes also Krishna fulfils your desire—if you have the strongest devotion, He always fulfils your desire...

For example, there was a Russian girl who left her body in Puri. Two days before that she came to me and said, "Maharaj, I do not want to go back to Russia. I live with my parents and they eat beef (cow's meat), but I am fully vegetarian, how shall I stay with them? I do not want to go, but my visa is finishing, I only got a short visa..." I told her she could come later, but she said, "I want to stay here—I am going to Russia soon, but it is better if die here." I told her, "No. Why should you die? It is not necessary. Come back to Russia, get a new visa and you can stay for a long time here. You must tolerate. You can cook yourself." I told her Srila Swami Maharaj's example. When he came to America for the first time he lived in one house—there, he cooked something at noon time and kept it in one side of the refrigerator, but the owner of the house also kept eggs and meat in that same refrigerator. Swami Maharaj tolerated it.

So, when that Russian girl came to Puri, she went into the ocean up until her chest and prayed, "I want to die, I do not want to go back and stay there." Suddenly a wave came and took her away—then another wave came and the body came to the shore. When my Puri manager heard it, he took her to the hospital, but she died on the way...

Also, how did Narayan Maharaj from Mauritius die? One minute before he left his body he talked to me personally... That day he was showing his preaching in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, to Puri Maharaj. He was a good man. He told me before that he had some problem with health and could not leave as planned, and asked me if he could stay in Puri until the parikrama. I told him that Puri climate was very good and he could stay there without any problem. They gave him a room in the building where the sannyasis live, and from the corridor of that building he fell down. Puri Maharaj told later that he heard some noise like something had fallen down and when he saw Narayan Maharaj lying on the ground, they immediately took him to the local Puri hospital. I told the manager that the Puri district hospital was not a special quality hospital and told him to take him to Bhuvaneshwar.

I told the manager to give the phone to Narayan Maharaj, I wanted to speak to him, and while I spoke to Maharaj, the manager went outside to rent a car to go to Bhuvaneshwar (the local ambulance refused to take them there). Narayan Maharaj said, "My bag is there, and there is some money in it..." I told him, "Do not talk about money now. First you must get treatment. I want your treatment, not your money." But he did not get that time—Krishna did not give him even two minutes. I spoke to him for about one minute, and the treatment was going on at that time, saline, injections, etc., but then suddenly his consciousness was gone. He left that money and told me it could be used for his treatment or to make Vaishnav seva after his death... I told him, "Why are you talking like this? You will be OK, do not worry," but who will listen to me? He [the Lord] is the proprietor.

'You are getting the seed, but it is not enough to only get the seed—you must take care of it. You must always chant properly and practise properly. That is my advice. You think you are getting initiation and will go to Vaikuntha, but it is not possible without you practising.'
