Separation Day His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
First, I am offering my full prostrate obeisance at my Gurupadpadma Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj's lotus feet begging him for his causeless mercy and service. Then, I am offering my obeisance to the holy feet of Guru-varga, all my godbrothers, as well all the assembled listeners and devotees. Today is a viraha-tithi, a separation day. Our supreme Gurudev, Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj accepted this day as the day to leave this world for his eternal abode. He has left us, fallen souls, here to chant his glories. Actually, we do not have any qualification to chant his glories, but if he gives his mercy, then his words, his glories can come to our mouths; otherwise it is not possible. We have all gathered here together to discuss his words over and over again, to ruminate on that, to sing his glories. Our Gurupadpadma accepted this day in 2010 and left this world, and he left whatever works he had not completed for us... Guru is the Lord's very own associate,

saksadd-haritvena samasta-sastrair "I offer my obeisance unto the lotus feet of Sri Guru, who is said by all the scriptures to be the Lord Himself, and considered to be so by the sadhus, yet is also the Lord's beloved devotee." (Sri Sri Gurvastakam, 7) He is the Lord Himself, and on the other hand he is a dearmost of the Lord. "Tava nija-jana kona mahajane pathaiya dile tumi (তব নিজ-জন কোন মহাজনে পাঠাইয়া দিলে তুমি): You have sent Your own associate [to rescue me]." These associates of the Lord come to this world to tell us the message of the Lord and we, in turn, can express our doubts and thoughts to Gurudev.

tad viddhi pranipatena, pariprasnena sevaya You will be able to attain knowledge by satisfying the divine master with submission, relevant inquiry, and sincere service. The enlightened souls who are learned in scriptural knowledge and endowed with direct realisation of the Supreme Absolute Truth will impart divine knowledge to you. (Srimad Bhagavad-gita, 4.34) Surrendering fully and making honest enquiries, we will chant the glories and message of our Gurudev. Gurudev came to the Math when he was seventeen years old and since then he had tirelessly served this Chaitanya Saraswat Math. Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj had waited for thirty years to give him his chair, but Guru Maharaj (Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj) had been always stretched time. He said that, "If Guru Maharaj had given all responsibility to me, he would have left the world, but who wants their Guru to leave the world quickly?" In the end, Srila Guru Maharaj said angrily, "If you do not take charge of this Math, I will break the temple and leave, and I will give the Deities to my godbrother!" Finally, he said, "If you cannot take charge of the Math right now, I will commit suicide, and you will be blamed for it!" This is how Guru Maharaj finally agreed to take charge in 1985. After that, you have seen yourself how the Math has expanded. Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj left only three Maths, and even those were not completely finished, but Guru Maharaj left the world having opened almost 130 temples. Now there are 138 branches. Just a few days ago, a temple opened in Tarakeswar—including it, there are now 138 branches of Chaitanya Saraswat Math...
