"Being a sadhu or pretending to be a sadhu?" "Playing the role of a householder (pretending to live family life) or living as a householder (becoming involved and engrossed in family life)?" We must not live a family life, but we must maintain the role of householders. People can look at you and say that you are a householder, but you must not have attachment to family life or to this world in general. If you have attachment to this world, you will not get the Lord. If your mind is always engrossed in searching for good food, etc., you will not get the Lord because that world is different from this world.

You must give up all attraction to or fascination with this world, just as Jivan Chakravarti did—in the end, when he got the touchstone, he gave it up. He gave up what is small and insignificant to get something big. In the same way, when our Guru Maharaj came to his Guru Maharaj, his family had came to the temple many times to take him back. When I came to the temple, they came to take me back too.

One day, I was standing on the roof of the second floor of the building where I stay in Nabadwip when suddenly I saw an old lady walking down the road. I recognised it was my mother. I went downstairs and told the gatekeeper that an old lady was coming and she would ask about this person (I told him my previous name), and I asked him to tell her there was not such person there. I had to be so hard. My mother came looking for me from so far, but I told the gatekeeper to tell her I was not there and she left.
