Trials and Tribulations (1)

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Speaking online to devotees in Spain
8 September 2018, part 2

Many troubles will come, many problems will come in our service life, in our spiritual life, but we must avoid them—we must not give so much attention to that. We must go forward, ahead; do not look behind at what has passed. You must preach and remember your spiritual life in this way.

So much patience, so much tolerance is necessary. You have heard from the scriptures how much fighting was going on, how many problems there were in the times of Mahabharata. You read in Srimad Bhagavad-Gita about the fighting between Pandavas and Kauravas. So much war was going on at that time, but we must wage war against maya, the illusory environment (just as it is said about Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur that he had declared war against maya).

Maya always comes to take you away from service; maya always wants to use you for her own purpose, but spiritual master and great devotees always use ourselves for the service of the Lord, of Krishna and devotees. That is why you must understand what you will choose—will you accept the works of maya or service to the devotees? You must understand yourself what is good for you. That is the main thing.

We must be tolerant. Our body has so many diseases—so many problems will come, but we also have five diseases called pancha rog, or prapancha. Through the association of the devotees, if you take the proper medicine from the devotees, you will be cured from those five diseases. This is not cancer, not heart attack, not diabetes, not some other material disease; this is another kind of disease, and to remove that disease from yourself, it is necessary to have good association and proper service to the Guru and Vaishnavs. That is the main thing. You must continue your spiritual life in this way.

Sometimes you think that I am not in Nabadwip—so many devotees all over the world ask when I will go to Nabadwip. But you know that when I joined the temple I did not come to see so many bricks and buildings (at that time, there actually were not so many buildings at the temple)—I came, I joined the Mission to see my Gurudev, I came for the spiritual matter. Later, by the mercy of Gurudev, by the service donations from the devotees all over the world so many things happened—Govinda Kunda, Centenary Building, Sevak Bhavan, Seva Ashram Bhavan, many other temples were made in Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math. The property grew, that is why many greedy people came who wanted those things, and that is why they possessed them. These people do not want, do not know what is the spiritual things, they do not know what is the main thing. What for did they come to Gurudev? They want to possess buildings, they want to possess rooms, they want some material things. They took it, but now they cannot maintain it properly, they cannot serve the devotees properly...

Great Expectations
'Always be humble, practise, and whatever result comes, Krishna will give it. Do not hope for so many things, like, 'I want to go Goloka Vrindavan.' Your duty is to only do service, to please your Guru.'

Gaya Gora madhur svare
'Stay at home, or stay in a forest, regardless, always call out 'Hari!' In happiness and in sadness, don't forget: chant the Lord's Name aloud.'

I may be in India physically, but I am always with the devotees—mentally,
and heart and soul.
