Your Heart Is the Commodity His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
You must understand clearly what you have come to this world for, what you have got this human body for. You have gone through so many lives, and after that you have finally got this human body—you have got good association, you are listening properly, then what are you waiting for? Because of some simple things—because of your self-interest, you are waiting, thinking, "Oh, I will take initiation next time," "I will take initiation in a few days," "I will take initiation after a few months." There is no certainty—you can leave your body at any time, you can go to another body at any time, and you must understand that you do not know what will happen then—you do not know what body you will get. As you sow so you reap—the result, or reaction, will come depending on the karma that you are doing. Krishna and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu want devotees' hearts. They do not care who has property, who has money in this world. You can see that you live in a simple house, but you have a heart to serve devotees, to serve Vaishnav. You think there are so many rich people in this world and you feel you are less than them, but those rich people do not get the sukriti to serve Vaishnavs, to serve the Deities, to serve Lord Krishna. People say, "Jay Sri Krishna!", but they do not follow what Krishna tells in Srimad Bhagavad-gita. If you say Krishna is great, then what Krishna says is also great, and you must follow that. Krishna told, "Follow what I have told you," but do you think that only saying, "Jay Sri Krishna" is sufficient? The same is true about Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Here in Bengal, so many people put tilaks, wear beads, but they only show it externally—they only say, "We are devotees of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu," "We are devotees of Lord Krishna." In Vrindavan also, everybody says, "Radhe! Radhe!", but they all follow their own interest, their own business. For example, some people have Krishna's photo in their shops—or they hang Radharani's photo, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj's photo or Srila Gurudev's photo in some shops, but they actually only use their names to do business. You know that when Krishna came to Duryodhan, Duryodhan offered Krishna opulent food, but Krishna did not even touch it, whereas when Krishna was visiting Vidur, who is a poor person, who has nothing, his wife gave Krishna banana skins, and Krishna ate it. Sriman Mahaprabhu also did not beg from rich people—He would go to Sridhar, a seller of thor (banana stems). Sridhar Pandit did not want to give it to Mahaprabhu, but Mahaprabhu forcefully took it from him. One time, Mahaprabhu came to Sridhar's house and asked Sridhar, "Please, can you give Me a glass of water?" Sridhar Pandit replied, "Yes, I can give You a glass of water, but I do not have a proper glass—I have a glass, but it has a hole in the bottom." Mahaprabhu said, "It is not a problem. I can close the hole with My finger and drink the water. It is sufficient." Also, Mahaprabhu asked Raya Ramananda (I told about it the other day in Kovvur; Cc, 2.8.247), "Sampattira madhye jivera kon sampatti gani (সম্পত্তির মধ্যে জীবের কোন সম্পত্তি গণি)? Who is the richest person in this world?" Raya Ramananda replied, "Radha-Krishne prema yanra, sei bada dhani (রাধাকৃষ্ণে প্রেম যাঁর, সেই বড় ধনী). One who has Krishna-prema (who has love and affection for Krishna, love for Vaishnavs, and love for Gurudev) is the richest person." We also sing, "Bhaktera hrdaye sada govinda-visrama (ভক্তের হৃদয়ে সদা গোবিন্দ-বিশ্রাম)": Krishna rests, lives in the heart of devotees. Why does He choose the heart of devotees? Because devotee can give peace to Him. Why does Krishna not go to non-devotees? Because non-devotee always ask Krishna for their own interest, "Give this," "Give this," "Give this," "Give this"—Krishna becomes very tired and runs away from them.
