(14/17) Start Practising Sincerely

We must preach in this world what we have got from our guru. How can you help others? If you share what you have got from your guru with others, you will be doing great help to them (you will be showing kindness to other souls).

First you must serve the Lord Krishna yourself – you must practise properly and take prasad of the Lord. 'Prasada-seva karite haya sakala prapancha-jaya (প্রসাদ-সেবা করিতে হয় সকল প্রপঞ্চ জয়). By honouring the Lord's prasad I shall conquer all worldly illusions' (Saranagati). We suffer from five diseases: ignorance (avidya) false identification (asmita), misdirected love (raga), aversion to anything that goes against one's enjoyment (dvesa) and being unable to give up unfavourable habits (abhinivesa). We come to the doctor to get cured but because we are not taking the medicine, our diseases are not going away. We do not take the Lord's prasad, we do not practise sincerely, properly. Attacked by these diseases, we are bound by material bondage. The only way we can get relief from this situation is, 'Bhagavata pada Vaisnavera sthane, ekanta asraya kara Chaitanya-charane (ভাগবত পড় বৈষ্ণবের স্থানে, একান্ত আশ্রয় কর চৈতন্য-চরণে). Read Bhagavatam under the guidance of bona fide Vaishnavs and take shelter at Mahaprabhu's lotus feet' (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 3.5.131). There is no other way to get relief in this world.

You keep coming and going, coming and going in this world, floundering in this vast ocean of material, illusory existence. That is why devotees go door to door begging. Why do they beg for? Money? No. 'Krsna bala, sange chala, ei matra bhiksa chai (কৃষ্ণ বল, সঙ্গে চল, এই মাত্র ভিক্ষা চাই). I am begging you for one thing only – come with Me and chant the Holy Name of Krishna!' They come to hijack you – to take you from this world of Maya and give you a place in the world of Krishna (engage you in the service to Radha-Govinda).

So, do not waste time. Start practising now. Practise serving Sri Sri Radha-Govinda now. Make garlands for the Lord, offer bhoga to the Lord. Then, when you get the right to do service, you will go to Goloka Vrindavan and serve Lord Govinda there. You always think, 'My', 'My', 'My', 'What will become of my life?', 'What will be my position?' – keep all such thoughts away! Leave everything to Govinda. You are sent to this world, but you come here with your hands tied – no matter how you try, no matter what you do, you can only get what you are destined for, and nobody can take that away from you. Therefore, I am telling you all – try to come out of this illusory world, leave these small matters.

You cannot get great things unless you give up small things. Because your tongue craves to eat fish, meat, onion, garlic. How much you have been eating throughout your lives! When you were a cat, how much raw fish you ate! Both scriptures and even common science say that vegetarian diet is healthier. Wine, meat, especially cow's meat, fish, etc. are not good for health. It does not matter what your religion is, whether you are a Buddhist, Muslim, Christian or Hindu, all these things cause problems for health (they can cause cancer, diabetes and other diseases). Many scientists and scriptures tell about this. I have collected quotes from many scientists and have made a leaflet. [His Divine Grace shows the leaflet to the audience.] To avoid all this, we must serve the Lord.

Have you heard and understand what I have told you? If you have understood it, you must try to practise it sincerely. If you have children, you must bring them up with this understanding.
