(13/17) Learn the Conception His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
What did Mahaprabhu preach in this world? When He was in Puri Dham, He showed the pastimes of separation (vipalambha-lila). What is the meaning of those pastimes? Mahaprabhu showed the irresistible pull towards Krishna that the gopis felt when Krishna left Vrindavan for Dvaraka. We must know and understand this, otherwise we will not be able to understand anything, no matter what we do. We must learn this conception. We are not devotees. If we can become servitors of devotees, that is sufficient for us. We must never think, 'I want to become a devotee' or 'I have become a devotee.' '"Ami ta vaisnava" e buddhi haile amani na ha'ba ami ('আমি ত বৈষ্ণব' এ বুদ্ধি হইলে অমানী না হ'ব আমি). If I think, "I am a Vaishnav," then I will never stop expecting honour from others.' If I think that I have become a Vaishnav, I will not be able to give honour to others. Please practise Krishna consciousness in this way. Please serve the Lord and think about the benefit of your own soul. Do not worry so much about this body that you will lose in a few days. We do live to eat – we live to serve the Lord. We have got this body to serve the Lord. We promised:
ভজিব বলিয়া এসে সংসার-ভিতরে ।
bhajiba baliya ese samsara-bhitare 'Forgetting that you came to this world saying, "I will serve You," you remained engulfed in ignorance.' (Sri Gitavali, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur) Captured by ignorance (avidya), we have forgotten our promise! To get out of this avidya (ignorance), we must learn para-vidya (transcendental knowledge). This is the knowledge about the benefit of the soul, about the Lord and spiritual life. To get this knowledge, we must enter a transcendental university where such knowledge is taught. The knowledge that everybody is taught in this world is not real knowledge. How to become an engineer, a doctor, how to earn money, how to increase your wealth – this world is always entangled with these pursuits. Always craving for material benefits, we turn into dacoits and killers to fulfil our interest. Yes, we must be selfish, but the real meaning of being selfish is that we must think about our real selves, our souls. 'I will get a car', 'I will get money', 'I will buy a house', 'I will become rich' – stop running after all this. Turn your family into a family of Krishna and serve the Lord. This is what we must always think about. We all must take shelter at the holy feet of a bona fide guru. A genuine guru, or sadhu, is he who has left everything and submitted himself at the holy feet of Govinda. Taking shelter at the holy feet of such a genuine guru, we must learn from him about all the rules and regulations and practise spiritual life sincerely.
