His Service Is Essential

Nityananda Prabhu is essential for our spiritual life.

When we came here in Sri Ekachakra Dham for the first time in 2004, we wanted to make a temple, but Gurudev told, "You have not got mercy from Nityananda Prabhu yet. When you get His mercy, then you can make a temple." So, in 2004 Gurudev told us to come back to Nabadwip and not to think about making a temple here. Three years later, in 2007, when Gurudev was in America, he called me and Sripad Tirtha Maharaj and said, "Now I think it is Nityananda Prabhu's desire—go and buy a land there." I came to Ekachakra again and saw many places before finally choosing this place here. You know what happened after that.

Gurudev wanted to come here, but he did not manage to come here physically. Still, we know that he is alway with us. After Gurudev's disappearance, in 2011, the Deities were installed. Gurudev had told me before that Gaura Nitai would be 7'6 and 7'4 tall, and we tried to follow that.

In his last day, our Param Gurudev Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj did not chant Hare Krishna maha-mantra on his beads. Once, his servitor asked him, "Maharaj, shall I give you your mala to chant?" but Srila Sridhar Maharaj replied, "You can give that mala to Govinda Maharaj—I have Nitai, I do not need to chant on the mala." He would always chant, "Nitai Gaura haribol, Nitai Gaur haribol." Then we can understand how essential Nityananda Prabhu, service to Nityananda Prabhu is.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur also wanted to make a temple here but he could not do that. A follower of our Srila Gurudev made this temple here, and this is how we are able to stay here, chanting and glorfying and spreading the message and Holy Names of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. We must be humble, tolerant and we must give honour to others. It is necessary.

How much tolerance Nityananda Prabhu has! When Madhai beat Him, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was very angry—He shouted and called His Sudarshan Chakra, but Nityananda Prabhu reminded Him, "Prabhu, what are You doing? Why are You calling Sudarhan Chakra? You have promised that You will not touch any weapon in this age of Kali!" Nityananda Prabhu stopped Mahaprabhu and begging for Madhai from Him ("Prabhu, please give Madhai to Me!" When Madhai then paid obeisance to Nityananda Prabhu, Nityananda Prabhu embraced and raised him. Then, Mahaprabhu accepted him. That is why,

উত্তম, অধম, কিছু না করে বিচার ।
যে আগে পড়য়ে, তারে করয়ে নিস্তার ॥

uttama, adhama, kichhu na kare vichara
ye age padaye, tare kraye nistara

Nityananda Prabhu does not consider who is good and who is bad, He saves anyone who falls before Him.

Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 5.208-209

Nityananda Prabhu does not judge—His mercy is above justice. We need this mercy of Nityananda Prabhu.

যোগ্যতা বিচারে কিছু নাহি পাই
তোমার করুণা সার ।

yogyata vichare kichu nahi pai
tomara karuna-sara

"When I examine myself for qualifications, I find none. Your mercy is everything."

We think we are qualified, but we must think that we are unqualified, that we are disqualified—we have no quality, no qualification. This is our conception, these are our main things.

Nitaiyer karuna habe Vraje Radha Krsna pabe, dhara nitaiyer charan duhkhani—When Nitai bestows His mercy you will reach Radha-Krishna in Vraja. Grasp Nitai's feet!" Nityananda Prabhu says, "Amare kiniya laha bhaja Gaura-Hari—you can buy Me if you worship Gauranga!" Chant with heart and soul—it is necessary to serve Nityananda Prabhu with heart and soul.
