(6/7) Mahaprabhu's Esoteric Nature His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We are seated here in front of Sri Prahlad Maharaj. Prahlad Maharaj said in Srimad Bhagavatam:
ইত্থং নৃতির্যগৃষিদেব-ঝষাবতারৈ-
ittham nr-tiryag-rsi-deva-jhasavatarair 'O Krishna! Thus, You appear as a human being, an animal, a great saint, a demigod, a fish and other species – in this way, You maintain all planetary systems and destroy the enemies of the world. O Great One, in Kali-yuga, You will preach the religion of the age (congregational chanting of Your Holy Name) in a hidden way; therefore, You are known as Triyuga (One who appears in three ages) because it is not easy to find in the scriptures some mention of Your hidden incarnation.' (Srimad Bhagavatam, 7.9.38) Why is the Lord called Triyuga? In various ages, the Lord appears in various forms and colours, but this does not happen in Kali-yuga: the Lord manifests Himself as a hidden incarnation in Kali-yuga. He comes secretly as a devotee.

suvarna-varno hemanga varangas chandanangadi 'In His householder pastimes, He manifests four prominent features: golden complexion, limbs the colour of molten gold, a very beautiful build and beauty enhanced by sandalwood and garlands. When He accepts the renounced order of life, He manifests another form: His lotus eyes contain the mystery of Divine Personality of the Lord, He is equipoised, firmly fixed in the great sacrifice of congregational chanting of the Lord's glories, He removes the nondevotion from impersonalists and grants them happiness, and He is filled with the mood of Mahabhava (Srimati Radharani).' (Mahabharata, Tadana-dharma, Chapter 149) Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita also mentions this verse from Upa Purana:
অহমেব ক্বচিদ্ ব্রহ্মন্ সন্ন্যাসাশ্রমমাশ্রিতঃ ।
aham eva kvachid brahman sannyasasramam asritah 'O learned brahman! In some special Kali-yuga, I will take shelter in the renounced order of life and will bestow devotion to the Supreme Lord Hari unto all sinners.' (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.3.82, originally Upa Purana)

antah krsnam bahir gauram darsitangadi-vaibhavam 'Internally, with His limbs, secondary limbs and opulence, He is Krishna Himself; and externally, He is golden Krishna Chaitanya. In this Age of Kali, I take shelter in Him by practising various limbs of devotion beginning with congregational chanting of His Holy Names.' (Tattva-sandarbha, Verse 2) It is also written in Sri Chaitanya-bhavagata, and Srila Ashram Maharaj mentioned it in his speech, how Advaita Acharya called Mahaprabhu to come. You can realise how powerful Tulasi leaves and the water from the Ganges are. Actually, Sri Advaita Acharya is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, so he could have said, 'I am Vishnu! I will liberate everyone!' but he did not do that – instead, he declared, 'The Supreme Lord must personally make His advent. I do not have the power to liberate all these souls ruined by Kali. So, to bring the Lord to this world, I must worship Him with Tulasi leaves and the Ganges water.' Answering Advaita Acharya's call, Mahaprabhu then came to this world. When the Supreme Lord, the original of all incarnations, appears, all other incarnations (the ten incarnations, three Vishnus, Vasudev, Sankarshan, Pradyumna, Anirudha, and so on) are present within His body, or form. When Nimai was born, Sachi Mata would also sometimes notice some symptoms that it was the Lord Himself who had appeared at her house, but, overcome with divine parental love, she still thought, 'He is my son.' One time, a brahman came to Sachi Mata and Jagannath Misra's house (the name of that brahman is not mentioned anywhere). You have heard this pastimes many times. That brahman was astonished that every time he offered bhoga to the Deities, Nimai would come and eat it. In the end, when that brahman realised who Nimai was, he ran away.
