(Bhavartha Dipika)
First, I am offering my full obeisance at the reddish soles of my Divine
Master Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami
Maharaj’s holy feet, begging him for his causeless mercy and aspiring to
serve him; after that, I am offering my full obeisance to all
guru-varga, all my godbrothers, all the listeners, all the motherly
lady devotees and all the devotees. I am offering my obeisance at your holy
feet and praying for your mercy to this lowly soul.
Today is a very good day. It is Sri Hari-vasara tithi, or
ekadasi-tithi. You all know these things. You have been thinking of
making a temple here for a long time, and I was also thinking about it. I
first came here, to Uluberia, some twenty or twenty-two years ago to preach
on Gurudev's order. I came here, preached, did parikrama, walked
the muddy roads. During the whole of niyom-seva month, you also do
parikramas in various villages nearby. After all these years, there
was a Nama-hatta called Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Sankirtan Mandala
established here. Remembering all this, we come here every year and arrange
various festivals.
As we go to various places and preach, etc., there appear many disciples of
our Math and Gurudev, especially here. So, I have been thinking for a while
now that I have made many temples in many districts – by Gurudev's will many
temples have been opened – but we still had no ashram in Howrah
District. With this in mind, we first have got a land here, but the situation
was unfavourable – if we were to make a temple there, there would be too many
problems. Besides, there are also no roads in that area, so it is very hard
to reach it. Sri Rama Prabhu had been telling me for a long time, 'If you
accept this land, we can make a temple there,' so having weighed everything,
I thought, 'All right. The land is on the bank of the Ganges, and the Ganges
is a very pure and holy place, everybody wants to practise spiritual life on
her banks. So, if you all get a place there to give lectures, to chant
kirtan, to serve and worship the Lord, then all the devotees from
both Howrah and Uluberia can come here – it is not far from everybody, so
everybody can come and join the programmes.'
Thinking about all this and taking my Sri Gurupadpadma's blessing, I was
thinking to come here after Gaura Purnima and I have managed to do it. You
all know that I am always very busy. I do not have time, and every day is
precious to me. I often think that if there were forty-eight hours in a day
instead of twenty-four, it would be so good. There have been many festivals,
one after another, so I have been visiting many places. On top of that, I
also have had to manage the legal matters. You know that before Gurudev left,
he declared me his successor in 2009, and after that he received very much
pain. He could not take that pain, so he was forced to leave – he could not
stay in this world anymore. Feeling deeply hurt, he said, 'There is no
anugatya left in this world, so I do not want to stay in this world.'
He went away, leaving me to sit on his thorny throne...
Gurudev told me before, 'This throne I am sitting on is full of thorns, and
I am wearing a crown full of thorns.' Only those who can tolerate that kind
of pain can wear this crown. It is necessary to have much patience and
tolerance. Gurudev always said, 'Wait and see. Do not do anything suddenly.
Sahasa vidadhita na kriyam (সহসা বিদধীত ন ক্রিয়াম্).' So, our Vaishnav
religion is all about keeping patience and tolerating...
