(3) How to Approach Krishna

If you want to get Krishna's mercy, you must get Radharani's mercy first. After completing the parikrama of Vrindavan and Govardhan, Guru Maharaj (Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj) asked our Sri Gurupadpadma, 'Which place do you like the most?' Gurudev replied, 'Uchagaon, Lalita Devi's place.' He told me, too, 'When you go for Vrindavan parikrama, before going to Varsana (Radharani's place), go to Uchagaon and pay your obeisances there.' If we get Lalita's and Visakha's mercy, then we will be able to get Radharani's mercy, and once you get Her mercy, you can get Krishna's mercy.

Do you think that Krishna can give you the right to serve Him? He belongs to Radharani, He is Her property, not yours. And Radharani is nondifferent from gurudev, so it is your guru, nobody else, who can give you the right to serve Lord Krishna. You can get this right and you can also lose this right because of offences to service, to the Holy Name, to the holy abode, to Vaishnavs. Because of our offences we cannot serve Krishna. We are unfortunate...

Still, gurudev is extremely merciful.

দুর্দ্দৈবে সেবক যদি যায় অন্য-স্থানে ।
সেই ঠাকুর ধন্য তারে চুলে ধরি' আনে ॥

durdaive sevaka yadi yaya anya-sthane
sei thakura dhanya ta’re chule dhari’ ane

‘If, by some misfortune, a servant goes in a wrong direction, glorious is the master who catches him by the hair and brings him back.’

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 3.4.47)

If a servitor wants to go in another direction, gurudev is very merciful – he will grab that servitor by the hair and bring them back, engaging them again in the Lord's service. Gurudev always engages everybody in the service to the Lord. He always bestows mercy upon devotees.

Always remember these things. Read books. I have written books – I have divided all these things into short chapters. Read these books again and again, five times, ten times, and so on. Many new books came out this Gaura Purnima and also earlier, at Nityananda-trayodasi. We have reprinted Sri Nityananda Mahimamrita. We printed Upadesh 3, where I collected many quotations from various sources. When I went for preaching, I attended programmes, took prasad, etc. until eleven at night, and then, from eleven to one o'clock at night (for two hours), I wrote books. I went to sleep at one o'clock and then woke up in the morning and continued preaching. I had been preaching for two months before Gaura Purnima, so I completed this job during that time. Upadesh 3 came out at Nityananda-trayodasi, and at Gaura Purnima we printed Sri Puri Dham Mahatmya-mukta-mala (A Pearl Necklace of Sri Puri Dham's Glories) about all the places we visit during Sri Jagannath Puri parikrama. The book came out very nice. It contains photographs of all the places we visit...
