(6) 'I Am Coming'

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Deities' Manifestation Anniversary festival, Siliguri, 1 May 2019, morning, part 6
Translated from Bengali

Vidyapati returned to Puri and informed the king, 'My mission is successful. I know where the Deity is, but the person who has the Deity keeps the Deity in secret, he will not give the Deity up.' King Indradyumna was excited to hear the news. He told Vidyapati, 'I am the king! It will be as I say. Let us see how he does not give the Deity up.'

He summoned his army and ordered them to arrest Visvavasu and bring the Deity here. The army left to carry out the order, but that night the Lord came to the king in a dream and said, 'I will not go like this! You have made a great offence! You must apologise to Visvavasu. He may have been feeding Me simple boiled roots, whatever he had, but he has been serving and worshipping Me all this time. You cannot arrest him. You cannot insult him. Release him and apologise to him.' The king did that.

After that, he cried and prayed to the Lord, 'O Lord, will You not come to me?' Another night, the Lord again came to the king in a dream and said, 'Yes, I will come, but you must first make a house for Me. You want Me to come, but you do not have a house for Me. Where are you going to keep Me? I want to come to you and eat nice offerings...' Indradyumna was a great king, he was very rich, so he built a big temple for Lord Jagannath.

The temple was built, and the king kept crying, 'O Lord! When are You going to come? When are You going to come?' Sometimes, the Lord would appear in his dreams and say, 'I will come when the time comes.' Finally, one night, the Lord again appeared to the king in a dream and said, 'I am coming. But remember one thing: no random person will be able to touch Me. I will come floating to the shore of the ocean as three big pieces of wood. Only three people can touch Me: My previous servitor Visvavasu (you must bring him there), the man who received My darshan first, your chief minister Vidyapati, and you. These three people can come, and they can bring My three Deities.'

So, the Deities first came to the shore of the ocean. We come to that place, it is near our temple. It is called Chakra-tirtha. So, the three men went to that place to find the Lord, and when they came there, they saw three enormous pieces of wood. The three of them were old men – how will they carry those pieces of wood?? The king was taken aback, 'I am so old, how can I carry this enormous piece of wood on my head?? What kind of pastime of the Lord is this! We will not even be able to move those pieces of wood – what a scape we have got ourselves into!' But as soon as they merely touched the wood, the wood became as light as cork! So, they easily lifted the pieces of wood and each carried their piece of wood to the temple of Lord Jagannath...
