(2) Exclusive Sincerity of Gaudiya Vaishnavs

When the brahmans' wives wanted to stay with Krishna, do you know what Krishna ultimately advised them? He told them, 'Make My Deity and keep Him at home, then you can serve Me every day.' He gave them this kind of right. From that time, the wives of the brahmans did that kind of service. Our Gaudiya Math's speciality is such that no matter what caste you were born in – whether we are brahmans, ksatriyas, vaisyas or sudras – our guru-varga accepts everybody and gives them initiation, turning everybody into brahmans. Gaudiya Vaishnav brahmans are much higher than the common brahmans you see in this day and age because they follow all the rules and regulations, they chant gayatri. Even before taking initiation, they start following all the rules and regulations strictly. They are vegetarian and take the Lord's prasad. Their attachment, or attraction, lies exclusively in one place. They do not worship all gods; they only serve Krishna: Krishna is the father, Krishna is the mother, Krishna is their heart and soul. So, they always live serving Krishna and His devotees. Those who have taken the second initiation must recite the guru-mantra, gaura-mantra, radha-mantra, krsna-mantra.

In this Age of Kali, Krishna comes as Gauranga Mahaprabhu, a combined form of Sri Sri Radha-Krishna. He is present here and takes your service. Those of you who can do service here every day are very fortunate. Not everybody has this kind of fortune: not everybody is able to do service or hear what is being said now.

When you go to Sri Puri Dham, you see the Deity of Lord Jagannath – is this Deity just some ordinary idol made of wood? I told you yesterday that if one comes to take the darshan of the Lord, then they can see the Lord. In other words, if you come to the Lord praying, 'I want to serve You,' then the Lord will reveal Himself to you.

If you come with us to South India this time, we will go to the place where Mahaprabhu revealed His esoteric form of Rasa-raja Maha-bhava to Ray Ramananda. Ramananda Ray was born in a sudra's family, but he is actually an incarnation of Visakha. So, if you go to Puri, you can get the darshan of Lord Jagannath – we are going there to offer some worship to Him. We cannot come close to Him, but during the Ratha-yatra we offer Him some coconut from afar. He accepts it from far. We come to Him with the intention to serve Him.

When you come to the Lord, you must come with a service mood. You must feel, 'I want to serve the Lord.' When people take initiation, many only pretend to take initiation. They make a show of initiation. They think that their guru's temple is to be enjoyed by them – they do not think that their guru's temple is to be served by them. Many people come thinking, 'I will come there and live nicely.' Very few people come to the guru or the Lord with the desire to serve. In almost 100% cases people come to enjoy their guru's temple and they are not afraid to even shed blood for that...
