When the Pancha-Pandavas—Yudhisthir Maharaj, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakul and Sahadev—were suffering having lost their kingdom, they became like beggars going from place to place, taking shelter at many places in India. They had no house, no food, nothing, but even at that time they were happy. This is the mood of Krishna consciousness, this is the mood of spiritual life, and this is the mood of devotion.

By the mercy of Gurudev, you are still there, you are practising Krishna consciousness, you are chanting the Holy Name and your mood is becoming holy. I know that there is so much difficulty going on all over the world, the financial and economical situation is now down, and especially you are suffering so much because of the economical condition. You cannot maintain the temple properly, but whatever you are collecting, Parama Karuna Nitai Gaurachandra are happy to see your mood, to see your austerity. They both can see it, and Gurudev is also there—he can see your condition and your problem.

We are surrendered souls—we must depend upon Krishna. Krishna will provide what is necessary for us. Krishna looks after us, Krishna takes care of us. Actually, we cannot save ourselves—neither our parents, nor anybody else can save us, and we do not know what is good for us. We do not know anything—we have no quality, no qualification. We pray to the Lord, "Yogyata vichare kichhu nahi pai—tomara koruna-sara (যোগ্যতা বিচারে কিছু নাহি পাই তোমার করুণা সার). We have no quality or qualification, we only need Your mercy." That is our quality. Wherever we are, whatever situation comes in our spiritual life, whether we are sad or happy, we must have chastity to our Gurudev. This is the main thing.

Whatever situation comes, whatever problem comes, we will not leave Krishna consciousness—we will practise, we will serve our Deities. We do not want to be selfish thinking, "Oh, I have taken initiation from Gurudev, I can stay alone!" and go to Govardhan and stay at Govinda Kunda: get an old house and live there eating some chapati and chanting. No. We need service. What did Gurudev say? We must not follow our mind. Do not go to stay alone in some place because if you stay in the temple, there are some rules and regulations, there is magal arati, there is class, etc. and you will be under control of Parama Karuna Nitai Gaurachandra, you will be under control of Gurudev. When you follow your mind, you will be controlled by your mind—you will lose your spiritual life, you will lose your devotion if you cannot control your mind. If you cannot control your anger, if you cannot control your lust, greed, attachment to material things, then day by day you will become angrier, more envious, more jealous and you will end up in a hellish position, very bad things will wait for you then.

Anyhow, you are still there in Venezuela. I know your situation and I am very happy with you all—you are going through so many suffering financially, but I am very happy to see your mood, to see you all—so many devotees and so many young boys—sitting in front of the Deities Parama Karuna Nitai Gaurachandra.

We must think that we are jiva souls. You were born and death must come one day, you will not be alive forever. However, your service can make you live forever—your service will give you the certificate. It is necessary to realise and remember this.
