I told something about Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur yesterday and I forgot to tell a few more things. There are so many pastimes of Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur, so many stories.

At first, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur would go to Brahmo Samaj (another sampradaya), but he left it when he read Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita. Then, he visited Dinajpur, he went to see Sri Kantajiu and Atreya River. When Bhaktivinod Thakur was in Puri, he would listen to Srimad Bhagavatam in the association of Sri Gopinath Pandit, Haridas Mahapatra, Markendaya Mahapatra, he would read the commentary of Sridhar Pandit, as well as Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu, Sat-sandarbha, Govinda-bhasya.

Once, he met a siddha Raghunath Das Babaji Maharaj Thakur. Raghunath Das Babaji did not like to mix with Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur and also told others not to mix with him, however later, when he understood who Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur was, he came to Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur and apologised, "Please forgive my offence. I have told everybody not to mix with you because I did not see your tilak and mala (neck beads). I thought you were not a Vaishnav. Please forgive my offence." Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur replied, "Babaji Mahasay, what is my fault? One wears tilaks and mala when takes initiation, but Mahaprabhu has not yet arranged any diksa guru for me. I chant the Holy Name on chanting beads, but I do not wear tilaks and mala." Sri Raghunath Das Babaji Mahasay understood everything and after that he started to like him and glorify him.

There was also one big Vaishnav named Mahatma Svarup Das Babaji. Thakur Mahasay (Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur) would often go to take his darshan and would hear his advice.

Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur liked a special dal called arhar dal (toor dal, or pigeon peas) very much. There are so many things that can be told about him. I have told you before that later, when he visited Tarakeshwar on his way to Vrindavan, he got a message from Sivji Maharaj, "It is not necessary for you to go to Vrindavan. My master is in Nabadwip, so you must go and serve there." Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur cancelled his journey to Vrindavan and came to stay in Nabadwip.
