(2) At Brahma Kunda

One time, Narad Muni came to Lord Brahma and said to him, 'Your Master, Lord Krishna, has appeared in this Dvapar-yuga and is staying now in Vrindavan (Gokula, Mahavan). He is performing so many pastimes at Govardhan! Did you know that?' Lord Brahma was puzzled, 'How is it possible? My Master has appeared in my universe? I have created this world, but I do not know about it?! Let me go and see it for myself.'

So, Lord Brahma personally came to Vrindavan and saw Krishna playing with His cows, calves and cowherd friends (Sudam, Sridam, Vasudam and others). Brahma thought, 'This cannot be my Master. My Lord is Narayan, He cannot behave like that. He always sits on His throne, and bhoga is offered to Him ceremoniously. But here this cowherd Krishna takes half-eaten fruit from the hands of His friends! He must be an imposter!' Then Brahma created some illusion, through which he hid all Krishna's calves and cows in a cave.

Suddenly, Krishna noticed that the cows were not there. He wondered, 'Where are My cows?' He went to look for them, but could not find any of the cows. When Krishna came back to His friends, He saw that now all His friends were not there either (Brahma had hidden all of them in the cave, too). Krishna started to meditate and understood, 'Oh, Brahma is playing with Me!' Then, He again produced all the calves, cowherd boys and cows from the hair follicles of His body.

One year later, when Brahma saw that everything was continued as before, he realised, 'I have made an offence at the holy feet of my Lord!' He came before Lord Krishna and asked Him forgiveness.

Lord Brahma also composed Sri Brahma-samhita in glorification of Lord Krishna.

So, it is our great fortune to be able to come here, to the temple of Lord Haridev. By the mercy of Gurudev, by the mercy of Sri Gurupadpadma, we have come here together with all the devotees. Now we are going to Brahma Kunda first and after that to the bhajan-kutir of Srila Sanatan Goswami where the temple of Chakleswar Mahadev is. The place there is very small, but we will go there and at least offer our obeisances and take some water from Manasa Ganga on our heads.

You can see the Deity of Lord Haridev here. Is there Srimati Radhika next to Him? You think that no, but She is there, in the form of a salagram sila.

প্রেমে মত্ত চলি’ আইলা গোবর্দ্ধন-গ্রাম ।
‘হরিদেব’ দেখি’ তাঁহা হইলা প্রণাম ॥

preme matta chali' aila govardhana-grama
'harideva' dekhi' tahan haila pranama

'Mad with ecstatic love, Mahaprabhu came to the village Govardhan. He saw the Deity of Lord Haridev and offered His obeisances unto Him.'

‘মথুরা’-পদ্মের পশ্চিমদলে যাঁর বাস ।
‘হরিদেব’ নারায়ণ—আদি পরকাশ ॥

'mathura'-padmera paschima-dale yanra vasa
'harideva' narayana—adi parakasa

'Haridev is an incarnation of Lord Narayan, and His residence is on the western petal of the lotus of Mathura.'

হরিদেব-আগে নাচে প্রেমে মত্ত হঞা ।
সব লোক দেখিতে আইল আশ্চর্য্য শুনিয়া ॥

harideva-age nache preme matta hana
saba loka dekhite aila ascharya suniya

'Intoxicated with divine love, Mahaprabhu began to dance before Haridev. Hearing about the Lord's wonderful activities, everybody came to see Him.'

If somebody comes to take the darshan of Sri Haridev Krishna during the parikrama of Sri Govardhan, they can get the result of performing the asvamedha sacrifice. Also, the temple of Lord Haridev is made from the same red stones as the temple of Lord Govinda.

[Coming to Srila Sanatan Goswami's bhajan kutir, His Divine Grace speaks briefly due to the crowds.]

This place is Srila Sanatan Goswami's bhajan-kutir and the temple of Sri Chakleswar Mahadev. There is Dhameswar Mahadev, Vrajeswar Mahadev, Gopeswar Mahadev in Vrindavan, Kameswar Mahadev in Kamyavan, Aseswar Mahadev near Nandagram and Varsana. And here is Chakleswar Mahadev.

When Srila Sanatan Goswami stayed here, there were many mosquitoes disturbing him. Then, he prayed to Lord Sivji Maharaj, and Sivji Maharaj removed all mosquitoes from there. After that, Srila Sanatan Goswami could practise his bhajan here peacefully.
