From the moment we are born until the moment we die, we are always working and struggling so much. We struggle so much our whole lives only to get some food and clothes. We carry on struggling and working hard the whole life... But we never think what will become of us after death. We never think about how we can free ourselves from such a life, about how we can become released from the bondage of material life. The Lord has thrown us into Maya's bondage, into this domain of Maya's games, but He has also come up with a way for us. If somebody takes shelter of a bona fide guru and can genuinely, sincerely call out to the Lord, they can get out of here.

The other day we had a programme in Purulia and had a discussion with those who study science. They asked various questions and we gave answers. Think about it: scientists can create bombs and so many other great things, but can they create a single grain of rice (rice that we eat every day). Can they do anything about a single mosquito? They cannot. When a boy and a girl get married, they have a child, but they only produce a body – they do not produce us. Remember this. That is why they are called 'biological parents'. If my parents were my real family, if they really were 'mine', then how could they leave me? If my son was really mine, then why would he leave me? If my husband was really mine, then why would he leave me? If my wife was really mine, then how could she leave me? They all leave one by one. They are not my own. My own is the Lord. He was, He is, and He will be in the future. You are born as humans in this life, so you have an opportunity to connect with Him.

There is only one reason why people cannot come to the spiritual world. It is the greed of their tongues. We cannot give up the food that we like. Take a lion as an example. A lion cannot live without eating ten kg of meat. A tiger cannot live without eating its five kg of meat. They cannot but eat meat, but humans have intelligence. Of all species in the world, humans have the most intelligence. If a human being thinks, 'I do not have to live like this,' then it can give up things and live in a different way. Do you know what people eat in Nagaland? They do not only eat dog's meat – they take a dog by the tail and start swirling it around until the dog vomits, and then they eat that vomit. This is here in India (Nagaland is part of India). And they eat even worse things in China. There are also places in India where they eat raw pig's meat... Crossing all that, we have been born in a nice place in India. We should understand the value and meaning of this life.

ভারত-ভূমিতে হৈল মনুষ্য-জন্ম যার ।
জন্ম সার্থক করি' কর পর-উপকার ॥

bharata-bhumite haila manusya-janma yara
janma sarthaka kari’ kara para-upakara

‘One who has taken birth as a human being in the land of India should take advantage of this birth by bringing benefit to others.’

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.9.41)

Doing good for others does not mean giving people money or things. I have just told you that when you die, you will have to leave everything behind. You think that you live taking care of all your needs, but do you ever think about what your souls need? You only think about your bodies: 'How can I eat well?', 'How can I wear nice clothes?' But thinking about yourselves means thinking about what is good for your souls.
