Power of Sukriti

Sanda and Amarka taught Prahlad Maharaj nonsense things, but Prahlad Maharaj did not take that association—he did not accept their teaching. Prahlad Maharaj had some previous sukriti (actions related with the Lord), and through that sukriti he could follow the proper teaching that he had got from Narad Goswami. You know that Lord Nrisinghadev actually appeared for Prahlad Maharaj, but even before that, in Prahlad Maharaj's previous life, there was also Lord Nrisingha. You may wonder how it can be possible. It is possible. Valmiki also wrote Ramayan long before Rama-lila happened—he wrote the whole story sixty thousand years before it happened.

Before Prahlad Maharaj's time, Nrisinghadev was also there. In his previous life, Prahlad Maharaj was born in a village as a boy named Vasudev. He grew up and became a young boy, and you know what character young boys have—he liked one girl and after talking and talking with her, he wanted to engage in some material things with her, some wrong things came to his mind. So, one day Vasudev and that girl went to look for some secluded place. Where were they to find it? At that time, there were not so many houses in the village, but there was one abandoned temple covered by jungle, forest. The bush had not been cut for many years, and the temple was very dirty. Sometimes, once a week, a lady would bring and offer some fruit to the Deity, but other than that nobody went there. The place was very secluded, so Vasudev told the girl, "We will go there!"

Both went into the temple, and when the girl saw that the place was very dirty, she said, "Ugh, this is such a dirty place, we will not do anything here!" But Vasudev said, "No, no, no, do not worry. I will clean it!" He cleaned some part of the temple, and through that he got sukriti—by the power of that sukriti he got a devotee's body next life.
