(6/6) Move Forward His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
তোমার সেবায় দুঃখ হয় যত,
tomara sevaya, duhkha haya yata, "All the distress I encounter in Your service is also my great happiness." (Saranagati 16.4) 'The very heart of devotion is life in search for Krishna’s happiness.' 'For those who have become niskinchan and want to serve the Supreme Lord exclusively, for those who want to cross the ocean of material existence, having close friendship, mixing, fraternising or intimacy with materialists is extremely wrong and ugly.
niskinchanasya bhagavad-bhajanonmukhasya Greatly lamenting, the Lord then informed Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, 'Alas, for a person who is seriously desiring to cross the material ocean and engage in the transcendental loving service of the Lord without material motives, seeing a materialist engaged in sense gratification or seeing a woman who is similarly interested is more abominable than drinking poison willingly.' (Sri Chaitanya-chandrodaya-nataka, 8.24) Cooking and dressing Deities are the main limbs of Deity service. These include cleaning the temple, dressing Deities, worshipping the Deities. These are the greatest services. I also wrote here in Guidance 4: '"Gurudev is mine"—if such feeling has not appeared, then your practising life has not started yet. Mother is my mother, sister is my sister—I understand this very well; but that Sri Hari Thakur is my Lord, that Sri Guru Thakur is my Gurudev—I have not learned this yet.' It is written very beautifully. These are very strong words. Most of the book is written in simple language, but the last part, Dasa Mula Sikha is a little hard.
labdhva su-durlabham idam bahu-sambhavante 'After many, many births and deaths one achieves the rare human form of life, which, although temporary, affords one the opportunity to attain the highest perfection. Thus a sober human being should quickly endeavor for the ultimate perfection of life as long as his body, which is always subject to death, has not fallen down and died. After all, sense gratification is available even in the most abominable species of life, whereas Krishna consciousness is possible only for a human being.' (Srimad Bhagavatam, 11.9.29) We existed before this birth – before this birth, we had got many births and deaths. After many births and deaths, we have got this very rare human life. We are born now as humans, but there is no certainty that we will be born as humans again. Our present birth has been determined by our past actions. In the same way, what you are doing, or not doing, at present will determine your future birth. This is how we are sometimes born as worms; sometimes, as insects; sometimes, as animals; sometimes, as humans. We spend life after life in this cycle of births and deaths. Even though it is not sure that we were born as humans before or will be born as humans later, we have got this very rare human birth now. We have got this kind of fortune. Misuse of the human birth is a sure path to degradation. In other words, if we do not utilise the human properly, we will be demoted. There is such thing as evolution. 'There is a evolution theory that we evolve in this way—grass, bushes, creepers, worms, insects, beasts, birds, monkeys, then humans. But if we assume that evolution exists, then we must accept that devolution also exists. This is reasonable. If you can be promoted, you can also be demoted. If there is birth, there must be death as well. Just as there is progress, there is also regress. Just as promotion is determined by one's merit, one's demotion is also determined by one's demerit. By the power of evolution, we have now got this human birth as a result of our pious activities or good activities, but if we cannot keep it up, then we will have to go down. Who can arrest this inevitable effect? If we do not use this human birth wisely, then we will inevitably get a lower birth in future. In such case, degradation is quite possible. Who will be able to check it? We can give an example of a judge to understand this matter. A judge is given the responsibility to dispense justice. If the judge does not carry out his responsibility properly and only passes wrong judgement, his demotion or degradation will be quite certain.' Jay Srila Guru Maharaj ki jay.
