Supremely Worshippable Day His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Jay Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami
Maharaj ki jay Devotee: Jay Om Vishnupad Paramahamsa Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj ki jay. Harinam sankirtan ki jay. Nitai Gaura premanande Hari bol Today is a very fortunate day for us. We always wait for this day very much every year—the holy worshippable day when our supremely worshippable Sriman Nityananda Prabhu chose to come to this world. We, especially all devotees of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu, have a very special regard to the holy day Gaura Purnima (Bengali people call this day 'dol purnima'), and today is the holy appearance day of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu—He without whose mercy this world is plunged into darkness, He without whose mercy we do not see and will never see any light, He without whose mercy the door of Goloka Vrindavan will never open for us, He without whose mercy we can never save ourselves from this illusory environment. Sriman Nityananda Prabhu accepted Sriman Hadai Pandit and Srimati Pamavati Devi as His parents and appeared on this holy day in this world in the age of Kali to rescue all the low and fallen souls like ourselves. Therefore, this day, Nityananda Trayodasi, is an extremely worshippable day for us. Many different sampradayas are observing this holy Nityananda Trayodasi day, but our Gaudiya sampradaya observes this day beautifully, with heart and soul, extracting and smearing mellows of deep love from their hearts. You too come here every year with much enthusiasm, and you will hopefully come next year too. Many of you have got an opportunity to come and be here from dasami tithi, which is very good, there is no problem with that. You have come one-two days earlier getting an opportunity to stay at Nityananda Prabhu's holy abode, we have also got this opportunity. I do not get time to come here all the time because I have to visit all the other temples—this is how the time passes. Because you all came before the festival, then I too came here a few days before the festival. This is how I too get an opportunity to hear the nectarean narrations about this holy dham (Mahima-charitamrita, Mahima-amrita, Mahima-katha). This is an extremely pure land, non-different from Sri Vrindavan Dham. Just as everyone says, "Jay Radhe Radhe" in Vrindavan, everyone here says, "Jay Nitai!" When people meet each other here, they say, "Jay Nitai!" Nityananda Prabhu's Name is uttered here all the time.
নিতাই না বলিল মুখে মজিল সংসার সুখে,
nitai na balila mukhe majila samsara-sukhe "What will learning (aristocratic birth) do for one who was immersed in worldly pleasures and never called aloud, 'Nitai'?" We are so proud of our knowledge, we are controlled by our ego—we are proud of our wealth, proud of our knowledge, proud of our bodily beauty, proud of our material qualities. This is how we become mad with pride and forget Nitai's lotus feet ("Ahankare matta haina, Nitai-pada pasariya" (অহঙ্কারে মত্ত হৈঞা নিতাই-পদ পাসরিয়া). I have seen Gurudev. One time, when Gurudev had an operation in Kolkata. When I saw him being taken to the operation theatre, I cried to see him suffer so much. There was about forty-five minutes before the operation and Gurudev told the nurse to allow foreign devotees (his servants) to stay. Seeing our crying faces, Gurudev only started chanting kirtan. He was lying on the stretchers, dressed in the hospital clothes, and he was chanting,
নিতাই-পদকমল কোটীচন্দ্র-সুশীতল
nitai-pada-kamala, koti chandra-susitala, "Cooling like ten million moons, Nitai's lotus feet soothe the world with their shade. O brother! Without Nitai, you cannot reach Radha-Krishna. Firmly grasp Nitai's feet." It is necessary to have the strongest faith. If you do not have a very strong faith, you will not have faith in Nitai. People sing at market places
যদ্যপি আমার গুরু বেশ্যা-বাড়ি যায় ।
yadyapi amara guru vesya-bari yaya "Even if my Guru, Nityananda Ray, goes to a prostitute's house, He is still my Guru." This is what faith is.
