Lord's Care for Devotees

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Nabadwip Dham
29 November 2010, part 4

Every time I go to Kolkata I remember Nrisinghadev.

You see how Lord Nrisingha came to protect His devotee Prahlad Maharaj... The Lord can never tolerate harassment and chastisement of His devotees (bhakter lanchana, bhakter ganjana—ভক্তের লাঞ্ছনা, ভক্তের গঞ্জন). Even Mahaprabhu said it also, "Maryada-langhana Prabhu sahite na pare (মর্যাদা-লঙ্ঘন প্রভু সহিতে না পারে): if you disrespect a devotee, the Lord Himself cannot tolerate that." Sometimes Jagadananda Prabhu disrespected Sanatan Goswami and Mahaprabhu became very angry and chastising Jagadananda Prabhu so much.

The Lord is always ready for the protection of His devotees. Mahaprabhu also protected His devotee Nityananda Prabhu—He called Sudarshan chakra, "You please protect Him, I will punish Jagai and Madhai!" Krishna always gives protection to His devotees

You can see it even in Kayadhu's (Hiranyakasipu's wife's) case also. When the demigods kidnapped her and wanted to kill her, suddenly Narad came there:

"What you doing here?!"

"Oh, it is Kayadhu!"

"Who is Kayadhu?"

"It is Hiranyakasipu's wife! Hiranyakasipu is a raksas (an asura, demon), and his wife is also a demon. She is pregnant and her son will become even a bigger demon—we must kill him! We must finish him off!"

"No," Narad replied. "It is impossible. You do not know that he who is coming from her womb will be a great devotee and he will protect all of you."

You know how Nrisinghadev protected Prahlad Maharaj, his devotee, later, even though Prahlad Maharaj was just a five-year-old boy.

Sometimes we pass Nrisinghadev's temple and I always stop my car there. I come to the temple and pay obeisance to Him. All my drivers know this—I tell them, "When you pass Nrisingha Palli, even if you have no time to stop, you must stop there for one minute for Lord Nrisinghadev's honour. It is necessary."

ito nrsimha parato nrsimho
yato yato yami tato nrsimhah
bahir nrsimho hrdaye nrsimho
nrsimham adim saranam prapadye

"Nrsimha is here, Nrsimha is there—Nrsimha is wherever I go. Nrsimha is outside, Nrsimha is within my heart. I am surrendered unto that primeval Lord Nrsimha."

The Lord always protect His devotees. We always say, "Suddha-bhaktir vighna vinasankari (শুদ্ধ-ভক্তি বিঘ্ন বিনাশকারী)." It means that in devotional activities there always come some obstacles (vighna, বিঘ্ন), and Lord Nrisinghadev is the One who can demolish, or resolve, such obstacles. Nrisinghadev or Gurudev can do it.

One time, somebody went to do some puja to Nrisinghadev and returned to Gurudev with some Nrisinghadev's prasadam. They gave it to Gurudev and Gurudev said, "Oh, I am afraid, that is why I must take it, but my Guru Maharaj will not take it because he is not afraid—Lord Nrisinghadev is afraid of Srila Guru Maharaj!"

Daily Arati Songs
'It may not be palatable every day, but it is necessary and very important to realise why we sing these songs every day—through that we can cross over the illusion.'

Sujanarvuda-radhita-pada-yugam
'His long, supple, golden form crushes the pride of golden lotus stems. His moon-like feet are worshipped by millions of Cupids. Eternally I offer my obeisance to them.'

We offer him what he likes, and Gurudev is happy with that,
but when will Gurudev be even happier?
