Connect With the Centre His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Today is a very nice day, and I am very happy because Sripad Tyagi Maharaj is now there in Mauritius, giving nourishment to the devotees through Krishna-katha. Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur sings in of his songs:
হৃদয় পীড়িত যা'র কৃষ্ণ চিকিৎসক তার
hrdaya pirita ja'ra krsna chikitsaka ta'ra "Krishna is a doctor for those whose hearts are diseased, He is very expert at destroying the heart disease of material existence." Those who are very sick need a doctor. We have some material desires and this is called bhava-rog (heart disease). Who can remove this disease? Who can be our doctor? Krishna can, but where will you get Krishna? You will get Krishna through His devotees, through His servitors, through His closest associates. Because we have so many material desires and suffer so much from them, Krishna comes to us as a chikitsak (doctor)—through the parampara, Krishna transfers all His power to His devotee and He can treat us. I have sent Sripad Tyagi Maharaj abroad because he can preach Krishna consciousness properly to the devotees in various countries, as well as all other jiva souls, fallen souls. This is good for everybody because he has some knowledge about Krishna consciousness and if he does not give it to others, it will be not good for him. So, if he gives something to you, it will give benefit both to you and to him also. Param Guru Maharaj Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj told that. Suppose you plant a coconut tree. After some time, the tree will bear coconuts, but the tree does not take that coconut itself—the person who planted the coconut tree will take it. This is what materialists do, but ours is high thinking—I can plant a coconut tree, but without the mercy of the Lord, without the will of the Lord, the coconut tree can neither be alive, not can it give any coconuts; so, this tree, along with its fruit, is not my property, it is Krishna's property, and that is why we must offer the coconut to Him first. We live in this world, and just to stay alive we kill so many millions of millions of jiva souls. We take rice, we take chapati for ourselves, but rice cannot grow without soil, without sun, water, air, etc.—these are all demigods, but we eat rice and use things for our own purpose. However, if you change your mood to surrender and connect with the centre, then your eating rice or using something will not be offence (aparadh), it will not be sinful. If you establish connection with the centre, it will be good for you. So, what we can do? We are lost servants searching for our father. Krishna mata, Krishna pita—Krishna is your mother, Krishna is your father. You are searching for your father, you are crying for your father, crying for your mother, and those who are your well-wishers, who want good for you can connect you to your original father, to your real father—they can send you to your real home. They can show you the path, "If you walk this way, you can get to your real home!" That is why it is necessary to take initiation. What does initiation mean? Only taking a mantra and hearing something with your ears? No. These are only formalities. Initiation means you must give yourself to the service of your Guru, to the service of the Lord. You should think how many per cent you can surrender yourself. It depends on you. The kind of mercy you get depends on the degree of your surrender.
