The three of you are now going to take the second initiation. Do they know how to cook?

Devotee: Yes, they cook very well.

I am first giving the mantras for both the ladies and the man, and I will give one mantra later to the male devotee.

Actually, in this age of Kali the Holy Name is the best. I have seen the Harinam Mahatmya (glorification of the Holy Name)—Jagadananda Prabhu explains it very nicely in his Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, and so do Rupa Goswami, Haridas Thakur, Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, etc. Even millions of millions of yajna (sacrifices), yoga, asan cannot equal to the Holy Name. The Holy Name is the best practice for this age of Kali. So, what is the second initiation necessary for? For more connection with the Lord. You want to enter the Lord's private places—the Lord's private places means the Lord's temple (His sleeping house) and the Lord's kitchen—that is why it is necessary to take the second initiation.

You cannot chant this gayatri mantra aloud. You can chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra loudly, but not these mantras. You must recite these mantras in the temple room, sitting on a clean asan, wearing clean clothes, do achaman with some Ganges water, etc. This is how you recite these mantras. Actually, these mantras are a kind of yoga—you must sit with your back straight with your legs crossed (you can see how I am sitting now), place your hand just above your navel, and recite each of the mantras ten times. Listen now to me properly and attentively.....

(Kama-gayatri controls your bad urges, if you recite it, bad desires will not come to you.)

Recite each mantra ten times in the morning, at noon and in the evening. If you cannot do it at noon time, reciting in the morning and evening is a must. The scriptures and Gurudev say that gayatri must be recited three times, but if you do not get time to do at noon, then minimum is two times a day—in the morning and in the evening. That is necessary.

I am also giving you another two mantras for archan, puja (Deity worship), for offering bhog—you prepare five types of paraphernalia (dishes like sweet rice, paste, chow mein, etc.), and as you put a Tulasi leaf on each of the preparation you can recite these mantras.

Look at my fingers I will show you how to count the gayatri mantras. [...] Recite the gayatri mantra in this way, each mantra ten times, in the morning and evening is a must—if you can recite it three times, it is good. Wear clean clothes, sit on a clean asan. Gurudev said, "If you can recite gayatri mantra continuously for one year, you will see how much attachment you will get to service," but devotees are not doing it properly, what can I do?... Start reciting the gayatri mantra from today. OK?

Devotee: Can we have a question? Is it necessary to hold your hand outside your cloth or underneath your cloth?

Underneath. Actually, when you do gayatri, if you wear no cloth on the upper part of your body, it is good, only an uttariya, no shirt [never applies to ladies—only to men]. But if it is winter season, what can you do? It is very cold and you have to wear some shirt or jacket, in this case do it under your clothes.
